Please post photos and details of your favorite arch-style arbors here! The one in the photo is a Dura-Trel structure made of infused PVC.

The original arbor fell apart, so DH saved the top and rebuilt the sides for me. I'm looking for a shade tolerant clem for it.

Fun color!!! The rotting issue is why I'm a fan of PVC and other materials that resist degradation. Living in Louisiana, moisture (and thus rot) can quickly become an issue for us. I guess in snowbound areas where structures sit with their feet wet from snow, you may have the same problems... Yes?

Yes, that's why DH painted every surface of this one, even the feet.

Love the arch style arbors. I have three now, the first is covered with confederate jasmine now and you can't see the detail. But in this old picture you can see a little. It had a fancy arch and bunches of grapes designs o the sides ...now covered. Sad Got it from Big Lots of all places.

This one is at a different angle into the pond, you can see the first one over to the right covered with vines. Found this one at Lowes assembled and marked down to move! It now has passion vines on it. Thumb of 2011-07-29/Sheila_FW/3875cf

Thanks Jeri...it is our get away for sure. Doesn't look the same as that picture, changes all the time.
This latest one is in the shade so may never have vines over it. It goes into the area behind our shop where my compost piles wagons and mower is hid away. Whistling We plan on putting a three or four foot fence around it later.

Here's a couple of pictures of my arbor just after we installed it a few years ago. I need to get a current picture since it has pole beans on one side and Clematis Venosa Violacia on the other.

Nice arbor and I love the steps and terraced beds. We did one small step and retaining wall, so I can appreciate the work that went into that! Thumbs up

An update on my arbor. This is what it looked like in September this year. The clemtis is done blooming, but the pole beans are doing nicely despite being completely stripped in hail earlier in the year.
In the background you can see my large grape arbor and off to the left of that is a trellis completely eaten by morning glories.

I really want an arbor but have not natural spot to put one. I guess I could just put one at the start of a path. The back yard is lawn in a wierd short of meandering shape, like a green river. Then the path starts and goes up a very slight 20' incline to the slope by my pond. Not sure what I could get to grow on it as it would die back each fall. I have absolutely no luck with Clematis but not for lack of trying. Kiwi grows okay but gets really tough and woody. I have a honeysuckle that the moose keep trimming out front, but again it would grow very woody. I guess I could run a line from the arbor to the fence over the garden. It is only about 6 feet. Maybe next spring.

I am in the same position as Oberon. No really great place for one here.
I like the iron ones actually all are nicely placed where they are.

Any place you have room for a wandering path is a great place. Create a small seating area in the back of a tall flower bed and stick a arbor and path to it! Instant secret garden.

I am going to do this when I find one for a good price. I like the iron ones, but they are so expensive here. I don't want one that is going to fall apart. I need one that some 'Blue Moon' Wisteria could grow on without falling down.

How far are you away from Fredricksburg, Tx.? They have some really nice stuff and it's very reasonable. Nice pottery too!!!
