These are my favorite forms of daylilies.

One of the most dramatic is Curt Hanson's "Sigourney"

He grew this for a long time before deciding to introduce it. I was so glad he finally did, so that I could get a fan of it!

This photo shows the throat, but you don't get the full effect, because you cannot see it from the side. The petals are so pinched, they nearly stand straight up some days.

This is another of Curt's --- Unraveling A Mystery

I have taken a lot of pictures of this one over the last few years as it went through the selection process at Curt's. He finally introduced it last year.

This is one of my seedlings, but it has Hanson on both sides. The petals are pinched so severely, that they stand straight up. If you look closely, you can see the sides of the petals roll completely back, making tunnel like areas under the petals that you can actually stick your finger down in.

Curt named one that is somewhat similar - Mother Upduff, but it is a much smaller flower.

Then there is my other love... carving or embossing.

This is Dan Hansen's - Keys to the Kingdom

Hi Frillylily,

Concrete Empire is a very interesting daylily ! Mine does all kinds of weird things. It is a Salter, I believe.
Daylily, I love your pictures ! When I get a chance, I will try and put a few on. Next summer I have vowed to take more pictures. It would be so fun to be able to share.

Very interesting seedling daylily. I like it! I splurged and ordered a fan of Michael's Sword for Spring. The feathered ones fascinate me. Gram's Dream did something strange for me last year. On many of the blooms, there were smaller petals under the regular petals. Maybe you can see it on the middle bloom in this photo. The smaller petals made the regular ups stand up more than normal. Does this have a name?

Lavender Heartthrob had some strange things going on with the edges too. Would you call these Angel Wings?

Enchanted Autumn is a fairly simple one with just enough craving to make it special.

I bought Texas Feathered Fancy (Carpenter-J., 2006) for delivery this spring. The only picture I have is the auction one, not mine to post. I love the cresting on it.

It was a bit self indulgent for me to create a forum for Sculpted and not for other things. Sculpted daylilies of any type are fascinating to me.

I think that there are going to be a lot of new things we can't envision coming in the near future from the sculpted flowers.

I'm afraid I've gotten bit by the sculpting bug also. My first one was Beyond Riches which is a pretty chunky monkey! (pic attached) Then I bought Orange Fringe, Carved Pumpkin Pie and Concrete Empire. I think I have Bonnie Holley on order for spring. I'd like to find a trade for one in something other than the yellow/orange tones.

As far as crested daylilies, I added Texas Feathered Fancy last year. I hope it improves...didn't show any cresting in the garden...
