Where have you all been hiding! You've come so far to stop sharing now! ((-:}

I hope to help get a ball rolling again here in this cool forum with tons of potential;...that seems a little neglected, and am hoping others are still interested here.

I need some inspiration too!

Hope to hear from some of you soon here and see what you're up to. Here are just a few more pictures of some things I've been up to. I currently working on a cool project for the Fall and redoing a few things...

Anyway, I understand life is busy, and too many forums can be difficult to keep up with, so if any one likes looking at mini-gardens and there isn't much activity over here, I'll continue to share some fun ideas on the containers forum, in my "Whats going on in David's containers" thread. Please feel free to jump in over there too, and show us your creative fun!

Happy Gardening! Smiling I tip my hat to you.

Thanks David for trying to get the mini garden going. I have to hit the Dollar store and thrift stores and pick up some decor. I am a snowbird so I am thinking of doing my morning room all in little mini gardens.

Please continue you are giving me some ideas and I will post some as I get the supplies to create. Most of the plants you have used I have but in separate pots by themselves it would make use of my space combining them.

Do you have any shoe gardens? I have 3 wooden dutch shoes I am looking at that I have in my stash. Rolling on the floor laughing

Although not as detailed as yours David, I did do one fairy garden container this year. I've hesitated to post the pictures because the pictures aren't the best and the background is pretty cluttered. But here they are anyway.

What a great plant selection too, and really well placed! What is that incredible succulent that looks like a silver Faerie forest?

Great job and Love it! Smiling

If you mean the spiky one on the right side, it's Orostachys malacophylla var. iwarenge. Here's a picture of a larger one.

TYVM! The Lithops, I just don't ever water near those. If the roots want moisture, they can find it in there generally. If not, they should be safe that way, I guess. It's my first crack at these. I hope it's dry enough, I haven't watered that planter for a few weeks & have a sheet over it today to make sure the rain doesn't get on it. A few cold nights coming up! Wish I could run electricity out there for an aquarium heater or Christmas lights. There's a tub of water under it but if the sun doesn't come out, it can't get warmed up. I'll probably add a lobster pot of boiling water to it tomorrow evening, 23 is lower than any temp all winter last year. Sheesh!

Instead of trying to do 'a scene' that's beyond my comprehension of how to create it, with all of the tiny accessories/decorations, I think I'm going to stick a few in planters & start enjoying them that way. Other people's pics are inspiring & helpful, but who else feels lost meshing tiny stuff with tiny plants? Maybe less is more, where I'm trying to do too much from the jump start?

I have finally painted the tiny bricks I made months ago, and the tiny food.
Thumb of 2013-12-08/purpleinopp/70bd94

The big thing outside I showed above is just too exposed to wind, direct sun to put a bunch of delicate decorations I worked a long time to make. Talked to DH about this so he has made another mini garden box that can go right in front of an east window all year. Hope I don't lose my gumption again, but I'm getting started on that as a venue for most of these cool, tiny accessories. It will have several little scenes within the whole thing. One of which will be a cook-out, BBQ. A vignette of a garden and potting area.

Oh, and I made a stained-glass window from shrinky dinks to go in a little building DH made that we thought looked like a church when he finished. Not that I started out in that direction at all, but I think it might look cool if it looked abandoned but still intact, with maybe a little overgrown graveyard near it. Don't think I've seen that done before and if I try to copy just stuff I've seen, I won't like mine as much. I can make little headstones from clay easily too.

I got the idea to shrink writing from searching shrinky dinks, and it seems like that could be applied to mini gardening somehow. Maybe the top of a patio table, sign, picture on a wall. What ideas does this give YOU reading this?

Call me crazy, but I think a tiny train running through the whole thing would be great fun!

Wow! Great ideas!!

I haven't checked in on ATP in over a year. Hard to believe a year has gone by!
I currently do not have any miniature gardens growing. I haven't found my round-tuit since I moved up to the mountains. However, I came in here checking because I am planning out a new miniature garden for the spring, as soon as the snow melts.

I had a miniature poodle that I had to put down just before thanksgiving. I figure the best way to memorialize him, is in a miniature garden Smiling He loved gardening with me and became a Master Waterer over the past 11 years. So I decided to mix his ashes in with cement, make a memorial stepping stone with it all, and then set it in the garden with a miniature scene. Anyone have any ideas to share....I'm all eyes and ears!!
All the coffee in Columbia will never make me a morning person!

Annmarie, sorry about your loss! I think that's a great idea.

It's a strange twist of fate that I just made some headstones for a cemetery scene.

Your new stuff is a lot of fun and its going to be great to see how you put it all together. Smiling

Do you still have his watering bowl Annmarie? Keep it on or near it and filled with water for any birds or tiny critters!

I've just been making some new hypertufa monoliths and Stone Age looking mini's. Come to think of it,...They look kind of like grave stones too! Hilarious!

I wonder if other miniature gardeners are thinking about those shapes too! Ha!
