I need to learn more about vines - I didn't realize that this forum was here before I kept seeing the chat thread on my home page. I have several clematis, and those long beans that I am trying, cucumbers, and I grow edible pod peas in the spring, but other than that, I don't grow vines. I should! I have places I could!

I have wild grape vines in my woods. Wow - those are some tenacious things. I've been trying to kill a few of them at the edge of the yard that are trying to over take a young buckeye tree for several years.

Hope you don't mind if I join you all here when I can! Whistling

Thumbs up Perfect title!

I just got back from the neighbors house. We put up part of her fence for her today, which is along another fence that has grapes growing on it. She picked some green grapes and handed them to me, and said to try them. I was worried, since all I had seen were purple grapes! But, I tried one, and they were THE BEST grapes that I've ever eaten!! I didn't know that grapes could be that sweet! She has the green and purple grapes growing together, so I didn't notice the green ones. They are yummy! We also cut some big branches off her trees for her, where the grape vines had been climbing, so now the area is under control, and hopefully the deer can no longer get into her garden - at least from that side. Tomorrow we'll run the electric fence around her fir trees so that the bucks don't do any more damage. They use the trees to scrape their antlers, and the trees are starting to look bad!

Natalie, you are a good neighbor to help out like that with all that work. And my favorite grapes to eat are the green ones. I always buy green gapes at the store when I want grapes.

A BIG sigh of relief! I planted my bulbs that where here from my early September shipment. That means I can rest up until the ones that ship early October arrive. And with the October ones I don't have the pressure of knowing I have to get them done quickly before more bulbs arrive. But then I don't want to be planting in November either.

Last year what with the hurricane messing things up, I was really late getting my bulbs in ground. The shipments only came later in October, then the storm, so then I was planting in November. I hated that as the soil was cold already and the weather was not so nice either. So this year as I was ordering from those companies shipping in October, I contacted customer service to request early October Ship date. I plan on October being bulb planting month.

Then last thing I do to put the garden to bed for over the winter is to mulch everything with fall leaves I collect each year. People put them out in bags for the city to pick up and I go around and put them in my car and bring them home. Been doing that for years.

Well, I don't have to worry about mulching my new roses; the old cottonwood trees will take care of that nicely. My problem will be finding them next spring! Hilarious!

DH bought me a big bag of tulips from Costco, but when I went to plant them, a LOT of them were rotten! I was really surprised and disappointed; Costco usually has excellent merchandise. I just stuffed them back into the bag and told him to return them next trip. It's not like they'd been sitting around for a long time...he just got them about a week ago and they were stored in a cool place. I'm thinking about taking Michigan bulb up on their $20 off on a $40 order and getting some different things.

Shannon, that is what I love about daffs. After the long winter I am so ready for the happy flowers of daffodils.

Raining today. My garden work for the day consisted of throwing out some grass seeds and clover seeds to fix up some areas I messed up with my digging to plant bulbs. Good timing as it is raining now so should get those seeds soaked and started growing.

My new front yard daylily garden in the rain today. Those daylilies must like it there because they are greening up nicely and growing.

And in the spirit of vines, my fall planting of peas has started to flower.

Cucumbers that I picked.
