I have been given permission to load the photo's from Dave of Crownsville Nursery. He has tons of photo's out on picasa and I have loaded them except for these coleus that aren't named.

I would love to get these photo's into the database.

There are 122 coleus without a name. I will give 2 acorns to each person for each name that you can help me with.

I have already loaded the ones in the first row.

I think these coleus are just too beautiful not to be in the database.

I'm hoping you all can help me.

Any way to get a list of what was ordered? That would be a lot easier than trying to pick from all cultivars in existence. Not sure I understand why/how they don't know what they are at the store?

I recognize a lot of them, or think I do, but they could just be something similar. These things can be totally schizo in different amounts of light, but I'm sure you know that already.

What's tricky about coleus is that the leaves change color with the amount of light the plant gets. However some are so distinct that you can name them.

I have to tell you all, I'm not a coleus person so I don't know their habits but after seeing these images, I need to start putting them in my garden. They are beautiful!

Oh, I didn't realize you aren't intimate with Coleus (yet.) I think you will have fun playing with them, especially if you have a variety of exposures. Most grow best in mostly shade, but many are also fine in every bit of full sun. For that reason, one can buy a single cultivar and have what looks like 3-4 different ones around the yard.

Trying to give an unknown Coleus a name is on par with trying to find the name of a Begonia. I think Begonias way out-number Coleus, which as of a few years ago, has over 2,000 named cultivars out there. But with the schizo-appearance thing that Coleus can do, it would be hard to be sure. I would be extremely hesitant to upload plants ID'd this way to a database as examples of a cultivar name. Also misunderstood your comment to mean they were photographed at a store, sorry.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize a link like that wasn't permitted by the host of the blog. My bad, not an issue at ATP at all. I didn't still have the pics on computer due to a computer crash, but grabbed a new copy of each from there a minute ago to put here. Should have done that yesterday, but admit to laziness!
I only bought one of these, then put cuttings in various spots.

After being moved, you can see how the new leaves on this one are quite different.

Yeah, who can't have fun with Coleus!? The only thing it doesn't have to offer is blue, a rare goal in the garden anyway.
