Your plant looks like Baby Sunrose (Mesembryanthemum 'Red Apple')
also known as Heartleaf Ice Plant
Unless you live in zone 10a or 11, it will not be hardy for you. You need to give it winter protection.
Beautiful plant Mick. My daughter has it growing in her Las Cruces, NM garden, but this is her first year with it. She may loose it this winter.
I don't remember what your growing zone is?
It's one of the easiest ever; just pick a piece of stem with leaves on it and stick it in some light potting mix. Water it in until the mix is wet, and set it in a south-facing window (or under an alternate light source). Leave it be until the pot is very light and the soil is dry, then water very sparingly until spring. Or, if you have plenty of room, just bring the whole plant indoors. It will rest for most of the winter, so it's water needs are very minimal. Last year my plant never even stopped blooming when I brought it in...it's a very adaptable plant.
with chelle. I took cuttings off mine a few days ago and plan to take a few more. If we get a forecast for really cold weather I will bring the main plant in under lights.

Thank you Chelle and Connie.
Yes. You can!
As an aside; my main plant has been outdoors in frosty weather for a couple of weeks now...and it's still blooming. It doesn't look real happy, but it looks like it's going to keep trying 'til the end.
I wonder how cold they can go to, if kept on the dry side? I may go find one and put it on the covered deck with some of my other tender succulents, to see if it will make it through a winter her.

We're at the warmest part now, I think.
Looking at it from the kitchen window it looks the same as it did before the snow, but I'll get another picture shortly. I'm still trying to thaw out from my last trip outdoors! I'm so not used to it yet...
