Haven't seen the sun much for a while, couple weeks. This gloom looks like a permanent part of the forecast, along with unusually cold temps & lots of wind. I was just getting over the nightmares from 2 months of rain/clouds from mid-June to Mid-Aug.

I don't know how much of a difference this is going to make to plants already 'bummed' about being brought inside. Bright sunshine vs. blighted gloom. It's making a difference to me though!

I just came to whine! Please join me if you're missing the sun too, or just go awwww if there's plenty on you right now!

Confused Thumbs down

Gardenias are making buds, and Osmanthus fragrans, so I guess that's good. They would anyway though, please come back, Mr. Sun!

We are expecting chilly temps and rain for the next five days. Supposed to get to the mid 70s today with sunshine, but it will have to work to make it. Drizzly and cool this morning.

Gloomy here in GA too. Greenhouse isn't even getting very warm during the daytime and it's supposed to get cold for a few nights so I will have to use the heater.

I agree, I'm tired of it, I could use some sunshine!

Gloom here too! I don't like the cold. Supposedly last night it was going to be 16. SIXTEEN. :/

Thanks for commiserating! Yesterday was beautiful, I was outside doing stuff most of the day. Some sun this morning, but we're forecasted 3" of rain tomorrow & below-freezing temps for a few nights. Already going to plunge below last winters low. Uh-oh. Just wish we could save some of this wind for summer. Rain barrels will be full though.

Oh you are lucky, J! Tomorrow night, it says 23 for here. 27 for the next night. I'm not so sure about the outdoor activities we had in mind for Friday. Today is just dreadful, pouring rain & hellacious gusts of wind. Sending everyone a warm, sunny breeze, if only mentally!

Same weather here, Tiffany. Our Egg Bowl game Thanksgiving evening will be frigid but at least it is supposed to be dry then. We have snow in our forecast for tonight, but little if any accumulation. Welcome to the deep south in November. I can never remember this many nights of 20's in November and I have lived in the deep south for 70 years. Global warming!

Man, the sun has been MIA for most of the past month, and the weather is now progressing through a worst-case scenario. Days of rain, to be followed by a plunging to low 20's a few nights. High Tues is supposed to be 38?!

I'm sorry, Ken, that sounds perfectly icky! And obviously it's ridiculous for me to be complaining about cold, most people are north of me. Admitting I have a problem is the 1st step. And I do feel so badly for those in colder places, they would probably love to be HERE.

This has been an awful winter and it's not even half over. On rare occasions the sun is out, it's way too cold. When there's a decent temp, it's cloudy and/or raining. I'm an upbeat person by nature and additional conscious effort when needed, but I'm at the bottom of the cheer barrel here, grasping at damp straws for anything that doesn't suck lately, regarding anything about weather/gardening.

Deep breath, count blessings...! We will survive this, defeat is not an option!

Anyone else who wants to whine, please go ahead. I promise my full attention and sympathy! There's not much else to do to pass the time. If I cram any more cuttings (of plants that like to have that done at this time of year) into pots, well it'll just continue to look like more crazy mini jungles.

What is everyone doing while stuck inside? It's not like there's not a ton of stuff that could be cleaner, but I never claimed to be a Martha in that department, and not about to set the standards and future expectations higher than normal in a fit of boredom. My fav 'frige magnet says, "Dust testing in progress. Please do not disturb the samples."

I spent some of the day starting vegetable seeds and starting cuttings of my Euonymus 'Manhatten'. The Manhatten is an almost perfect evergreen landscape plant with a fairly slow growth rate. My mature plants get a "haircut" once a year, and many of those cuttings get rooted. I generally am pretty successful rooting those cuttings. I also began to air layer my 25 year old "mama" Fiddle Leaf Ficus. I air layered 8 of her branches.

Had a little bit of sun today and I was happy, even though it was still a bit too cool to my "southern blood" (it was just under 60° in the afternoon). But I had to put on my hat before venturing outside, due to my unfortunate tendency to get skin cancers! Tonight's forecast low, 25°.Wishing us all an early spring!

Yikes! 15 last night, similar expectations for tonight. Broken records all over the state. The wind is stronger than the sun today, not expected to crest above freezing until tomorrow.

But Sad because that's about what we got, 14.4°. Forecast was 20°, they screwed up!
