Haven't done much in the yard lately, other than walk-abouts and some indoor planning. Keeping the bird feeders full and the chickens warm. Rather enjoying our cold snap - it sure makes the mountains pop! Perhaps we can share frosty pictures this month.

Rolling on the floor laughing Maybe tomorrow I'll take the camera and not be a wimp! BRRR this feels almost like MI, only without my warm coat! Sticking tongue out I tip my hat to you.

Speaking of dogs, here's what Frankie brought to my attention this morning:

Yeah, I have been spending time in/out most of the weekend, just to keep an eye on the not-so-smart chickens. That was a bit bold for me as well, you know how close that patio is to our house! Frankie was barking her head off from the deck, which didn't really phase the coyote. Glad the pup wasn't around, she probably would have tried to play with it (her brains have not remotely come in yet).

Cold temps. The top started to freeze leaving an air hole. The water pushed up and froze. At least that's how it was explained to me Shrug! I'm sure there is a very techno explantion, but that works for me Whistling Hilarious!

Couple more frost photos, although it does seem to be warming up with a bit of cloud cover -- almost up to 30 today:

BH you are a brave one. I'm getting so I hate the cold. Only went out when I had to.
Here are some ducks sunning themselves during the freeze. Darn things should have flown south.

SC, do you have a lake association? I have a friend up here who lived on a much smaller lake than yours and they had so much problems with weed-n-feed run-off that the lake got shut down entirely for quite some time. No one could swim in it and it was really nasty to look at. I thought that was sad, and so very disrespectful of the folks who would not abide by the common-sense lake rules. I guess a manicured lawn was more important than the health of the lake to some...

Yes, but they just do it for their DGD, soon she will grow up and there will be no more feeding ducks. My DD and I use to feed the duck together. They are such nice people put up with my dogs visits. We are kind of a close group 5 of us live in our family homes. We all remember the good old days. The kids and dogs ran from yard to yard, no one cared. Before everyone got crazy, I guess. Maybe I just see things from a child's perspective on my part, the adults may have been thinking otherwise.
Most of us have respect of the lake, seems like the developers do more damage then a few ducks.

Looks like rain today! So much better then the ice. Come on Spring!!! Everything looks so bad after the frost.

Snow in Seattle! First of the year. It looks like 1/2" to 3/4", but the temperature is right at 32F and I expect a lot to melt before it re-freezes tonight.

Thumbs down

But that's a lot better than most places as far north as this!

Thumbs up

We woke to a couple inches but it is quickly turning to slush. So pretty though, even if just for a short while. The chickens don't know what to make of it - they have not yet ventured outside. The song birds are going through the seed and suet very quickly.

Almost all the snow here has melted, except for a few shady places. There is still some on the west side of the road as I went for a walk today. The ice has melted and the lettuce has recovered.

It was over 50 degrees today! (Well, for a short part of the day...)
