I live in the northeast and brought my sedum lineare in for the winter.
I would like to take some stem cuttings but want to know:
Do you remove the leaves from the stempart that goes into the soil?

I would think so. The leaves could cause a problem if left attached. They should root quickly.

Thanks Lynn
I left some of the small roots and the stems are about2 inches long.
I still have the motherplant so if the rooting doesnt take I will wait until later in the season.

That was a wise decision to bring it in. It probably wouldn't have made it. Maybe next year you can try leaving some outside over winter, in a more protected area, just to see if it will survive your winters. That would be great information for our database.

It would be very exciting if it came back in the spring. We could change the growing zone information.

I wonder how the Kangaroo Paws would do indoors over the winter?
While I was visiting my sister in CA we went to her local nursery, they had about 5 different varieties of KP. I so wanted one. I might give it a try next year.

I just googled it, and you can bring them in for the winter if placed in a bright window.

I sure hope my nursery carries them.
I even like them before they fully bloom.

The foliage has the look of slender iris leaves. I really love them.

Jo Ann.
I'm 6a in Va. And my linare does ok. here. unless it is a really bad winter then it dies back but regrows from root system in spring. My fig tree does the same thing. No longer a tree Its a bush now with a dozen separate stems. But i'm only about 70 miles from the largest "Hot Air" furnace in the world. Known as Washington DC Which might be the reason why. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
we got about 4" of snow and ice today. will see what it looks like after that melts off.

Cliff: That is great news. The ball of roots I took out of the container was large enough to fit an 8 inch pot.
There was some plant left and I will keep an eye on it to see how it fares winter here.

LOL Hot air furnace.

Sedum lineare overwinters here for me, in a protected, well-drained spot. Not in pots, unless I bring them in the cold room over winter. It's one of my favorite sedums. I throw stems of it in mixed pots with just about everything.

What growing zone do you live in Celene? Do you grow other sedum? Would love to see photos of them.
