Look like a chimera !
It is not transmitted by seed. *Blush*

How does it work?

Dany12,
If this is your plant, I would save seeds & give it a try.
I have several variegated Morningglories that do come rue from seeds.
Plus I read somewhere that when variegation carries over into the
seedpod (as indicated by your last photo) that this increases the
chance of variegated seedlings.
Please keep us posted.

I know there are many vines with variegated foliage .... a 1/3 of the Ipomoea Nil cultivars have variegated foliage.
But here I speak about purpurea!

I collect the seeds and I get only regular ipomoea purpurea.
Every year there are 5/6 plants ... volunteers who have variegated foliage. You never know where they will appear. Ipomoea purpurea with variegated green / white cream leaves in are rare.
Here another:

Other purpurea have variegated foliage that spreads by seed:

Hello again,
Thanks so much for those pictures.
I love variegation of any kind.
Thanks too for your experiences you mention with the seeds.
Wish they would come true for you, but I know that's not always the case
with variegated plants from seed. Thanks agagin.

I've never seen variegated I. purpureas. Too bad they won't come true from seed. I really like variegation. You're lucky to have them!
