Much to my surprise, it still hasn't started to stink much, it's really opening up now tho!

There's a faint unpleasant smell, something metallic, very odd and hard to put your finger on, we'll all know when it peaks!

She doesn't really know what to think about it, she's quite the flower girl and insists that she loves pappy, everytime we check it out she asks, "is it stinky daddy?" Then I respond " oh yea, it's gunna be SOOO stinky!" She then rolls her eyes and says " oh no daddy, not again..."

It's funny as can be, she's a nut, wonder where she gets that from...

Here's today's pics!

I did find a funky spot on the tuber, I scooped it out with my thumbnail, and gave it a does of cinnamon, I think it'll be fine, but it was pretty large, maybe 4-5" across and an inch or two deep! It's never happened before, but apparently it pretty common.

Konjac is supposedly the "tater of the tropics" in areas where it's grown, they make just about any potato style dish you could imagine from it, including fried chips!
Oddly enough, the funky spot smelled just like a freshly rotten tater, not the wicked putrid smell of old rotten taters, but it wasn't an old spot...I bet given enough time it would reek!

It's also what they make lipozene from!

I noticed you call it Pappy, shouldn't that be Peppy, as in Le Pew?

You're gonna be sorry if that decides to "attract" something during the night while you're sleeping! Aggghh. You and your plant will both be sleeping in garage!

LMAO That is why all my plants are outside though I do not do the stinky plants...Monsteras are bad enough, & I find their anthesis to be somewhat pleasant...

Regarding the Amorph: I know whereof I speak! I once volunteered to take mine to a garden club mtg. It hadn't quite opened. The day of the mtg., it was opened and stinking. It was also raining and chilly for March. DH drove me in his truck, with windows down and rain coming in. He was driving so he didn't get the odor as badly as I did in the back seat, holding it upright.

Sandi, hilarious!

Stories like that are why I draw the line on this, no thanks. Smelled one in the conservatory at a botanical garden one time and I don't want a repeat. Cool to look at from the sniff-safety of being 2 states away tho!

Hey, Sway. Some of those puppies smell like a week old corpse, jmho. nodding

I am firmly on the side of 'glad to see the pictures but not have to smell the flower'.
