I hope you'll share the beauty of your Florida Winter blooms, fruits and edibles here until we get to Spring. I'll show you mine if you show me yours! Smiling

Lets Grow! I tip my hat to you.

David

These pictures are from yesterday. Can you believe we're up for another cold week? Lets hope the weather psychics are off a few degrees to the north of their predictions. Thumbs up

Nice thread title, David. I walked around with the camera and was surprised at how many blooms I found. I have a few orchids blooming right now, but they will be coming into the house for the next few cold days. Wish I could bring in the tomato and broccoli plants!

Monarchs are hard at work here. Pot with coccoon will be under cover for the cold. Yellow milkweed brings them in.

Brazilian Red Cloak is in bloom year 'round, it seems. Nice red coleus called 'Dipt in Wine' has seeded itself! Purple firespike is in for a shock.

Just found this…Looking good, David, and Elaine.
Most of what I have is looking 'toasted'. But I did find a couple of things struggling along…Sanseveria is just beginning

Wow its cool to see all those great pictures of your garden worlds Elaine and Tara, and in the middle of January!

That Orchid is a major beauty Elaine. All of the pictures were great and Thank you for sharing. I love Sarasota and my passed Aunts and sisters 'Madge' and 'Wanna' lived there for years. You are a tad further South then Tara and I, and can get away with things that are a little more edgy in our Winters. You don't need to worry about the Broccoli I think. They can easily handle a frost even up here and it actually can improve them! Smiling

We both have blooming Sanseverias Tara! It was good seeing the pretty greens. Collards can grow into Palm Tree looking things at the top of tough woody stalks and sometimes go three or more years and get 5 feet high here and the leaves are still delicious!

Nice to see color "somewhere". I bought a vase with 6 yellow tulip bulbs yesterday. I will soon have some yellow tulips to brighten my otherwise bleak landscape.

Amaryllis are my spring bulb of choice. I've scored them on sale for as little as $3 each after the holidays, but didn't get to go looking yet this year. All the good ones are probably gone. They come back faithfully, multiply and bloom wonderfully for me in the garden every spring.

Edited to add, I've seen them in gardens as far north as Savannah, so they'd do fine even for you northern FL folks.

Found another surprise out in the garden this morning, a tall Canna with a nice bloom waving around in the cold breeze. It must be really confused! Likewise the little pink salvia . . . "but it was so warm a week or two ago . . . ??" Blinking

We got down below 40 again last night but are headed quickly up now, thank goodness. Still no damage to the garden that I've seen, even the Clero's are holding up which is a big surprise! Some things are probably going to sleep for a while now, but that's ok.

Glad to hear it is warm somewhere in FL We have been below 36 for the past few nites & not all that warm during the day. Looking ahead Tues nite to be in the upper-20s & "high" Wed not even to 50!!!!! My few remaining plants have been covered for days & it looks like they will be staying that way.

I did get some tomato seeds planted yesterday. Hopefully I'll have some babies in a week!!!!!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr R' US! I agree is so true. Yikes!

We have been really blessed with no major damage at all so far, yet what is ahead we wonder?

I've only been bringing in a few things this last go around,......and have been lucky outside.

This particular Dwarf Firebush (Powderpuff that is. Thank you @Dutchlady1 !) is a major favorite of mine and is in the foyer still as I speak. She's a beauty to me, and they hate the cold. They bloom year-round unlike the large ones, and thats what makes them special. Smiling

HaHaHaHaaaaa! Yes it is a fact that I'm a Nut! (-;}

Hey, cool - Dragon Lettuce?? Lovely little powderpuff, Rolling on the floor laughing too.

Thanks on the pictures, David. The last two are cell phone shots in artificial light. The rest I used the 'real' camera.

Salad greens looking tempting . . . lettuce mix, Kale with purple stems, Mizuna, a wonderful mustard green.

David - a new purple & green cat???? Quite interesting.
I thought I'd get out & rake up leaves today but then it rained. So I still have leaves all over the yard. Spent the day out in the Studio trying to finish up some quilt tops I worked on while we were on vacation. The finishing work takes longer than making the quilt (and is not nearly as "interesting")!!!!
Blessed are the Quilters for they are the Piecemakers.
