My Dendrochilum glumaceum is opening this week and the scent is simply wonderful, if you like Anise as much as I do.


Barkeria melanocaulon blooms for months, truly.


My noid Cattleya "perhaps labiata x" has always been blooming in Fall, these blooms now are a bonus. Also scented.


And there are a couple more fragrant blooms on this Lc Irene Finney x Slc Circle of Life


Lycaste Phoebe always blooms on bare pseudobulbs.The blooms have a light herbal scent.


Prra Motes Leprechaun 'Haiku Mint' blooms several times a year. Scented!


And Slc Patricia Taaffe 'Neptune' in bloom again. This one needs as much sun/bright light as possible, or the growth will be floppy. It is growing mounted on driftwood.

Ohh, you saved a lovely little show for the new thread, Ursula. The Den. is really pretty but I just love the peachy shades on the little Lycaste.

Out of curiosity, does anyone grow Ctsms? SVO uses them for a lot of their crosses, but I've never seen one posted anywhere else.

The little Lycaste is a cutie, isn't it. To me those blooms always look like they stick their noses into a breeze.

Carol, I like Catasetums a lot, but I don't have any.

Carol, reference your Ctsm question, here are a couple I posted last year. They normally bloom in May for me.

My cattleya guttata X cattleya bicolor is blooming. I've had this plant for many years. It is growing in a wooden basket.
I usually had the basket hanging from a tree but one day I decided to hang it from one of the garden walls. A few time later I discovered that the orchid had spread its roots over the wall and they were so strongly stuck to it that I can't move the plant from that place,

Out in the OC, I found Blc. Hawalian Leopard 'Mai Ling' with new flowers.


The big NOID Catt has a new spike with three new blooms open.


There are a troop of dancing ladies enjoying the sunshine.


L. purpurata werkhauserie 'Monte' X C. gaskelliana is still looking pretty.


Time to fire up the grill. Steak and wine are on the menu tonight.

Wow, Ceci that plant really told you where it liked to live, didn't it.

Lovely show, Jim. The purple on that Laelia is fabulous. I've had no luck with any Laelias so far I am on my third try with a little L. purpurata 'Rio' that is turning yellow on me for no good reason. Is there a trick? Throw them up on a tree limb and forget them?

Couple more little "maybe Yellow Birds" in bloom on the big cork raft. Since I divided that plant into several clumps, I seem to always have a couple of flowers in bloom.

Mellie, the Gramm. is spectacular to say the least. Mine are all var. Kiilani, but are still small plants (tiny, compared to your picture Sticking tongue out ). Because the Kiilani is a compact plant, it will never get anywhere near that large.

Yes, Ceci, I've been to Argentina 3 times: twice to Buenos Aires for work and once on vacation to see the great falls of Iguazu..

Back to sunglasses, T-shirts and air conditioning here in Florida. Enjoy the big game everyone!

My 'big game' for today was the Venice Orchid Show. Will start a new thread to post pictures, and I bought a couple of treasures that I've been wanting for a long time.

Still, I will tolerate sitting down to watch a little football later, if only for the delicious treats and snacks . .. . Oh, my waistline! Have to walk twice as far tomorrow.
