It will be a month or more before I will bring my dormant plumeria out for potting. We are finally having more
"seasonally-average" temperatures, but we still have freezes forecast off and on for the next ten days. I only look ten days out since anything longer is as much guess-work as factual.

Thank you for the reminder Hetty. My plumeria now have little claws at the tips and because you mentioned it, I went out and gave them all some fertilizer. I'm really bad about remembering to fertilize so that was a much needed reminder.

What is y'alls favorite first-dose-of-the-season fertilize??? I am out of fertilizer and need to get some.

I use a timed release fertilizer similar to the readily available Osmocote or Dynamite. 13-13-13

ok thanks. That is what I'm out of.I thought maybe they needed a bit of something extra after being asleep. When do you start bloom-food? I am bound and determined to get flowers this year and to fertilize regularly as that may be where I am amiss

I don't feed for blooms. My theory is that a healthy plant will bloom. I may add some organic material (horse manure, seaweed etc.) as I get it.

Hetty: 'Lani' is stunning, love that beautiful color!

I have only the one large Plumeria that I had my husband plant in the ground late last summer and I was really expecting it to suffer and die when we had a couple of really cold nights this winter ... but so far it's looking fine; almost leafless but other than that it looks good. I didn't even cover it with blankets when we had a couple of frosty nights! I took a cutting late in the summer to root for my sister in Fort Lauderdale and it rooted quickly and looks good too.

Rain predicted pretty much all day here. Gloomy but at least it is above freezing. I took two bags of my dormant plumeria out of their closet yesterday and potted up a couple of dozen ones, those that were already rooted. Depending on size, they are in 1-4 gal pots, but most of them are in 3-4 gal. pots. I have them in my mini-greenhouse on the patio. We are supposed to get down to 37 tonight, and even though they should be fine (no leaves), I will go ahead and put a 100W or 150W light in the greenhouse to keep the temperature a bit warmer. I still have two more bags to pot up, but with the rain, it will be tomorrow or Saturday when I do so. I will just leave the cuttings on the enclosed porch for another few weeks and then begin the process of rooting them.

First 'official' bloom of the 2014 season. Whereas my previous flowers have been from inflos that have hung on from last season, this one is blooming on a new inflo: Beach Blush.

Nice one. OK, I admit it. I am jealous.

Mine too, I have several inflos even without fertilizing yet! I think I will definitely have more blooms this year than last year on my plumerias.

The warm winter in Tampa helped, I didn't have to cover any of my plumerias this winter, which was a blessing because we had a very busy winter.

Beautiful pics. I have a couple of inflos on trees without much in the way of leaves yet. I cleaned out the hydroponic tub today to make new solution and dumped all the old solution on the plumerias, I hope they like it.

I taught a plumeria and lei making class today; I had some blooms left over so I made myself a lei too.
