This is one of the major nurseries on the twin cities. They have 11 acres at this site and two others with 12 acres. All together they have 500,000 sq ft including the retail space.

Lovely of course. Oh to have a home under (and in) a commercial greenhouse! Bioshere dreams. It would be something I would do should I win the Mega Ball Lottery indeed;... and Its a fact!

I miss my days working at a wholesale grower. The one I worked at was 8 acres under greenhouse roof. I had my own golf cart to get around. My job was production co-ordinator, prepare crop schedules/plans, prepare "sticking", sowing and transplanting schedules, order all the seeds and cuttings and my most fave, plan the container combos. Everyone thought it was weird that I new all the varieties and exactly where they were in the greenhouse. To me it was a passion, to the others it was a job....big difference in interest and engagement. And yes, I did buy a lot. Who wouldn't?

I wrote a little article: http://garden.org/ideas/view/J...

@HollyAnn,

Just think how it would look filled with hanging baskets in bloom! They told us in May that is how it looks.

p.s. Holly Ann is my wife's name too.

The Hobby Greenhouse Assoc we belong to does a group buy in late March. Many of the plants are very small plugs they come in cells or open flats. Some have 600-800 plants to an open flat the cells are 300-500 per very small cell pack. The prices are extremely good but you aren't getting much more than a started seed especially in the open flats. Some of them don't even have their true leaves yet. We have a pretty good record of transplanting them into larger cells. Don't loose many of them. Takes me hours to do it.
