I love the vivid color of this cultivar and the cool-looking sepals.

That is a beauty! I remember seeing pic's of 'Gabriel's Horn' on another gardening site I used to belong to. Your plant looks wonderful, great growing! Thumbs up

Thank you, Lin. I am also growing another Sinningia acquisition from Longwood Gardens, variety 'Prudence Risley'.

Here's Prudence Risley.

Joseph: I submitted a proposal to move your photo of 'Prudence Risley' to the database. I also submitted a proposal to add the plant 'Gabriel's Horn' which wasn't yet listed in the database. As soon as it's approved your two photo's for that plant can be moved over too!

Joseph, I proposed to move both of your above photo's for Sinningia Gabriel's Horn to the database but you can add any of your photo's to the database, whether old or new pictures.

At the top of the page on the left hand side just click where it says ATP Plant Database and then type in the name of the plant you are looking for. When you get to that plant entry under "Adding Actions" click on "Upload a photo" after it uploads it automatically goes into a queue for the database administrators and once approved you will get system messages letting you know the photo was added.

If you have any difficulties just holler and one of us will help.

I do not have much luck with Sinningia. I bought this one 'Bristol's Love Potion' and 'Bristol's Galaxy Tour', along with several miniatures that were really beautiful when I got them, but the minnies were not happy with me so I gave them to a friend who is good with plants and she is having problems with them. I kept Bristol's Love Potion and have propagated it one time just to see if I could do it and I have two babies, but I am not sure I can keep them alive. Love Potion died. I really like these plants but I do not seem to know what makes them happy. I have only Galaxy left and it is not blooming just now.

I am green with envy when I look at those beauties you all have. Way to go!

JB,

Thank you for sharing your photo and your experiences...I don't do anything special with the plants other than giving them filtered sunlight or have them sit under fluorescent lights that are about 6” overhead. I water only once a week and give a little food once a month.

I do one other thing and that's because my house can get dry in winter, so I have them in bowls with rocks, and have water in that. I still water once per week, but I try and keep the bowls semi full for humidity Thumbs up
I have also heard that these plants don't like a lot of airflow (unlike most plants) and so I have them in a corner that stays pretty "flat" @JB if you had them in a greenhouse with the air on, that may have been too much for them?? I personally like to at least know what I did "wrong" when I can't be successful with a plant.....or sometimes I've just waited too long, and its no longer important...onto the ones that I DO have luck with! nodding

I would guess mine will never look like yours @gg5 since mine have completely different colored leaves and not the trumpet flowers. Maybe I got the wrong kind? No, I never kept them in the GH because I wanted to keep close watch on them until they got older. They are in a very "still" area along with the streps. I do hope I can keep the babies alive because I do like that particular plant.

It's tempting but I haven't room for more, unfortunately. Thanks for the offer!
