I started on APS 12 each of Begonia Dragon Wing and Santa Cruz in January. This was today. You can see how badly they needed to be potted up Hilarious!

Well, the Dragon Wings were getting pretty sad looking, I think just because they were so overdue to be transplanted. I gave them a little food so hopefully they'll perk up in their bigger cells. I know I'll most likely have to pot them up again before transplant to the yard, but I'm out of space on my little light shelves. Some of this bigger stuff needs to move outside but the weather just won't cooperate.

I've wintersown my tomatoes for years with great results, but last year was so wet and cold and cloudy that none even sprouted until May. This year I'm trying to sprout them indoors in vermiculite, hoping that I can then pot them up to soil and move outside soon. No more space under lights.

This has been a LONG winter.

Way to go on the begonias, Karen.
My begonia sowings never did anything.
Old seeds or bad soil?
I am now buying tubers to start.

They're big now! I had to pot them up and stake 'em yesterday.

A few Santa Cruz were so tall that they were
a. hitting the lights
b. blooming

I pinched a few of the tallest ones (Santa Cruz). Are they supposed to be pinched? They looked like they needed it. How about the Dragon Wings? In the past, I've not been able to figure out how or where or when to pinch Dragon Wings. Sometimes when I pinched they bushed out proximally and grew on from the next node down. Other times, the stem just stopped growing. So.... how/ when is it supposed to be done? Or not at all? Shrug!
