The most recent pic of my largest super-compact arabicum 'Head Explodes'. About 5 months old now, it's 4.5cm or 1.75" wide at the base of its caudex and about 6.5cm or 2.5" tall minus the topmost leaves. The quarter is there for size reference.

An amazing plant. You're growing it with a minimum of water and fertilizer?

It gets watered roughly every other day.....fertilized weekly at half strength what is given on the containers of Ionic Grow 3-1-5 one week, Schultz Plant Food Plus 10-15-10 the next week. And weekly foliar spraying of Spray-n-Grow Micronutrient Complex. Other than the watering, which differs from one plant to the next, this is what I do with all my adeniums.

P.S.--And thanks for the comps everybody!

Say, Mike, I haven't seen that name before. Did you buy seeds named "head explodes"? And from whom? Just curious.

I have an arabicum that's really surprised me, it must be one of the "Japanese Giant" seedlings. In three years it's as tall as I am. I am crossing it with an obseum that Wilfred sent me, that is a little taller than I, at four years old. Photos someday, I can't get far enough away to show what these two look like. They're crammed in with all my other plants, and no photo I've taken so far shows the individual plant, booo.

Oh, I'm sorry, that was years ago... Poor Wilfred. Puerto Rico is in a terrible depression, I guess he's on food stamps by now. He cannot leave, afraid to fly, and afraid of boats because of all the sharks.

Melissa.....yes, the specific name of this variety of arabicum is Head Explodes. There are others.....Diamond Bracelet, Emerald Crown, Beefcake, Gold Bracelet, and more. They all originate from a grower in Thailand named Ray Saraburi. Ray is on Facebook--you can buy seeds from him directly, but it's not easy as he doesn't speak much English. Can also order his seeds from JK Adenium, also on Facebook, but they sell out of their stock VERY fast--I think they're all out for the current harvest from Ray.

I wound up placing 4 separate small orders--to increase my chances of the orders being delivered successfully since neither Ray nor JK Adenium included phytosanitary certificates. Soooooo....long story short, both of my orders via JK were a bust. One was confiscated by US Customs and the other I received but all the seeds were smashed because they didn't use a bubble wrap envelope! The other two orders were successful, one was directly with Ray but going through a buddy of mine from Facebook adenium groups who did all the "talking" with Ray. The other order that made it was via another Facebook adenium groups friend.....who ordered the seeds from a re-seller in Malaysia who is also a member of Facebook adenium groups.
