Do you need some green manure? Do you need a cover crop for this fall? I'd love to help! I know we're coming to the end but I have Winter Wheat available for sale. I have 50 lbs bags for $25 a bag plus shipping. I could also break it down to smaller bags if you'd like. Just let me know!

Overland is a hard red winter wheat developed cooperatively by the Nebraska Agriculture Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS and released in 2007 by the developing institutions and the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station. Overland is a semi-dwarf with a short coleoptile similar to Millennium and Wesley. It has a mature plant height of about 33 inches, which is similar to Millennium. Overland is moderately late in maturity. Although Overland has performed well in University of Nebraska irrigated variety trials, it has moderate straw strength that may result in lodging problems in irrigated production where yield potential exceeds 100 bushels per acre. In addition, it may produce more straw residue than desired. It has good to very good winter hardiness that is comparable to other winter wheat varieties adapted and commonly grown in Nebraska and South Dakota. As a moderately late maturing variety, Overland should be considered as a possible replacement for Arapahoe, Culver, Millennium, and Wesley, although Millennium and Wesley have better stem rust resistance and end use quality.

- Moderately resistant to leaf rust, stripe rust, and Hessian fly
- Appears to have tolerance to wheat streak mosaic virus that is similar to Jagalene, 2137, and Millennium
- Moderately susceptible to stem rust

Hi Devon~ I just found this post. I am just beginning to learn about some cover crops and wheat. I live in Oregon (NW) and I buy my wheat in bulk. I was toying with the idea of planting some and see what happens. I actually planted a few in a couple different spots, and believe it or not it is looking beautiful! So, I am curious wether your wheat will grow in a very wet climate. Also, does yours have a good edibility? What do you think the postage will be to ship fifty pounds to the PNW?

Thanks,
Toni

So Good Morning! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been gone due to the military and I now have the opportunity to respond to TONS of messages. I think it would be the standard freight rate of roughly $75ish but I do think that you would find cheaper products closer to you. I can however help you to pick, I love cover crops and they are a huge passion of mine so let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Hi Devin,
Glad you are back. I would love to know all you can teach me about cover crops. I am just beginning. I recently planted some buckwheat and a small amount of annual rye. My timing is off because I accidentally let the buckwheat go to flower. So I believe it isn't as good for the soil now.
I will keep trying.
