While visiting my son in Gridley they took us to a botanical garden not far from Sac. It was beautiful and had a large dug pond and in the middle on a mound of dirt stood 2 herons looking around for lunch. Also, we visited an arboretum (cant remember the name) and I would have loved to bring some of the plants home they were outstanding. Different kinds of plants were in separate rooms. Air was like that of a rain forest and all the plants were thriving.

Was the aboretum a large white structure tall and rounded. I was there many years ago and yes like going through a rain forest. I believe it is in Golden Gate Park.

If the building looks like this: this is the Conservatory of Flowers inside Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Love this one immensely!

But there is an arboretum at University of California in Davis which is just 19 min from Sacramento too. Smiling Also a lovely place to visit.

All I can remember is after coming out there were some steps leading down to a very open area where folks were sunbathing on the grass. I was so taken by the plants that's what I really remember. The bldg. was white and did have a dome maybe that's where I was. My son and family got tired of waiting for me cause I took my time and really wanted to remember a lot of names of plants. I should have taken pics but I don't think they allowed that. Anyway it was a great experience.
