Do any of you use essential oils such as lemongrass in your feeders? I've been seeing a lot of articles and ads for supplements so I tried putting some lemongrass oil in the syrup as a lure for an empty hive box I put out.

The reason I did this was I wanted to see if I could catch a swarm and thought maybe it would make the box more attractive to them. The bees are busy all over the box but it's only been out for a few days so no one has moved in yet.

I read of some beekeepers putting sprigs of thyme in their bees water sources too, I guess in the thought that it contains thymol. I'm not sure of that yet, will have to do more research

Life is a rush into the unknown. You can duck down and hope nothing hits you, or you can stand tall, show it your teeth and say "Dish it up, Baby, and don't skimp on the jalapeƱos."

We don't use them here but I'm interested in the subject and have been researching it.
Keep us updated on whether you get a swarm in that box
