When does one give calcium to pepper plants?
Is it just for fruit production or do the plants require calcium before then?
And what do you use as a calcium supplement for peppers?

Hi Caroline,
I am no expert by any means, but since no one has commented yet, I thought I would give my 2 cents *Blush*
Last year, I put about 1/4 cup of bone meal in the hole of each area that I planted my tomatoes and peppers. Also,
I save my egg shells and dry them and put them in my blender to make a powder out of them. And that, I sprinkle around each plant. I will do that again each year because I had the most wonderful and productive tomatoes and peppers EVER. Hurray! I don’t know if that helps you at all. I don’t really know scientifically why it helped them so much, but it sure was wonderful to reap the rewards. Lovey dubby

Happy gardening,
Toni

Are peppers like tomatoes? Does the calcium prevent blossom end rot or maybe I should say do peppers get BER?

Thanks Linda ~ I had never run into it with peppers. I had just heard that old timers in this area add powdered milk at the bottom of the planting hole before placing the tomato plant in it to avoid BER. Wonder if that really works.

I have recently read egg shells prevent BER. You don't have to turn them into powder for them to help but couldn't hurt.
