I'm in Pittsburgh for a conference and stopped by the Phipps to look at their spring flower display and found the nicest picture "frames" and topiary lined with succulents and sedums

I wish I had enough Sedums to make even a small one but no such luck. There were many succulents in both displays and everything looked healthy.

I really love the topiary, the frame is beautiful also. But the topiary speaks to me. I can't even imagine how many plants are in those.

Just guessing, but put into the pot, there's probably a conical shaped topiary frame that's stuffed with some sort of screening (?), soil and moss...

You could use a tomato cage wrapped in chicken wire.

Those are nice. I like the tree too. I live in Pgh and have not gone to Phipps in years. I hate the traffic in the area. You have made me think I should brave the traffic and go. They always have such great displays.

I probably have enough of tender sedum to do one but I am thinking for a all winter one, Semps would be great.
