A few first-timers in my garden. Do you have some new favorites?
'Expect Wonders' (Ghio 2009)- I need to find a place in the garden where this one's subtle beauty is highlighted

'Reckless Abandon' (Keppel 2010)- How can you not smile looking at this?

'That's All Folks' (Maryott by Ghio 2004)- This one had me gob-smacked when it opened. 2013 Dykes medal. Took the last flower off yesterday : (

Reckless Abandon is just such a nice one, and a good grower for me here too. Love it. That's All Folks is on my wish list for sure.

My season is done until I get some rebloomers.. So going through some pictures of the later first-year bloomers, here are some more of my favorites this year. I'm choosing these, not just based on the beauty of the flower, but also on form, number of blooms, plant vigor and length of bloom. I was surprised that close to 50% of all that I planted last year didn't bloom.. So, next year should be phenominal... right?

Sherry, what is the shorter flower behind Fall Fiesta?

Love Spooned Blaze! Really like the edging and subtle colors of Expect Wonders as well. I was fortunately that most of my new ones all bloomed this year. I suppose this means my front garden will be a bit thin on bloom next year.....

Debra.. that's just a shorter growing snapdragon out of a 6 pack... They wintered over nicely, and came back gangbusters. I thought they'd be a little taller when I bought them, but oh well...

Jan & Cindy- 'Reckless Abandon' is *really* nice... I've got 'Kathy Chilton', which is similar, and I like RA tons more.. Must be that little picotee edge on the STD's..

Leslie- 'Spooned Blaze' really made me smile a lot.. It just has such a cheerful whimsy about it.

So no one else has any first time bloomers that they liked .. What's up with that?

Only had one new bloomer this year and that one only got half a bloom out of when I acquired it from the neighbor's side yard. But this photo is of one blooming in their yard.
