I have several plants listed on my list that have pictures of someone elses plants. This does not seem to be an accurate showing of my plants and I would like to know how to change those pictures (small ones on each listing) to the actual plant I own for either trade or sale.
I have no problem with other people posting pictures of their plants on my list and sometimes it is very helpful, but the small picture on the actual listing I prefer having my own. Is this possible please?

I really like that idea also, but I do see some drawbacks(for me) I am not very good at using photos to ID plants by and what I often think is the same plant turns out not to be. So the good thing about using one of the data base photos is that at least they have been reviewed and have a much better chance of actually being the correct plant. But it would be great to be able to up load your own photo of your plant to the data base, have it approved and then be able to select your own photo. It actually might lead to many more plants being loaded to the data base if people could use their on photos in their lists.

I have some customers that depend on me showing them the pictures of the actual plants and I always make sure on my stores that I use the actual plants picture or I tell them in the description that the plant in the picture is NOT the actual plant for sale. I am concerned that the picture that is not my plant will misrepresent someone that I send to ATP to see my list of my plants. I am on several other groups and I always push them coming to ATP to see my list so they can get to see ATP. Hopefully they will become members. I can always send them to eBay or eTsy or Pinterest, but I send them to ATP. Therefore, that is my reasoning behind my request. I need to talk to @Dave and see what he thinks.

We actually discussed this exact issue a week or two ago. I looked but couldn't find the thread, but the consensus was to leave it the way it was. I'm starting to think making it a preference option might be the right course of action here.

I am sorry I missed that discussion, I think a preference option is fine. I do not want to discourage anyone from posting their pictures on my list, I just want my plant on my listing. If that would be possible?

For now, JB, you can post your own photos in the comments section of your list. I did that on the first plant in my list just to see if it would work. Take a look at my list and see what you think.

That's right, thanks Woofie! I forgot about that solution. If you find the thread please link to it here. Smiling

What I did only works with a photo that's already in the database, although you could also copy a photo that you'd posted in a thread. First, find the photo in the database that you want to add to your List entry and copy the BB code. Then go to your Lists Control Panel, click on the "edit" button for that entry, then scroll down to the "comment" section and paste the code in there. (Make sure to save your change). Very easy. Here is the original thread where this was discussed:

Also keep in mind that the general database thumbnail photo is subject to change depending on how many thumbs it garners. I can foresee a winter project of pinning the photos I want to show up in my list (likely my own plant plus perhaps an emerging photo and fall photo) and then just enjoy the ever-changing thumbnails. With the new random photos in the blue column, I think the thumbnails will change more often.

Makes me glad I only have a few plants on my list and I was just starting with only a very few categories, but I have already started adding my photos to my lists.

@JB there is also an option to add a personal note which shows up at the very top of your list. You could use this space to clarify that the small thumbnail is a generic ATP photo and that the photos in your comments section represent what you actually have to offer. Go to your list management, and at the bottom of the first page will be an option to 'add or change your list info box'.

I agree
I never even noticed that before. I just put in my growing zone it to see how it works, wonder what other neat information people could add there?

Oh, that's a nice touch, Seedfork! That way, if someone looks at your list they can see what plants work in your zone without having to look up where you are.

Thanks @Bonehead I am going to try and put a pic in the comment section of the plants. I can always send the people elsewhere to see a list of my plants but I prefer not to unless of course this fails. Thank you again.

That is a great idea for garden plants. I have mostly houseplants! But I will add that to my 3 garden plants. Thank You!
