Is the broken tip going to the compost pile or can it be rooted if so how?

Any advice would be very appreciated.I posted this on the propagation thread and didn't get any responses. The plant doesn't have much longer i wouldn't think, it's been broken a little while, not wrinkling yet but i do need to do something with it if i can. Confused Shrug!

Appreciate any advice, opinions or guess's!! Whistling

It's a crassula perforata 'string of buttons'

I have no experience with it but my inclination would be to remove the bottom set of leaves and then root the stem part.

As with all my succulent cuttings like that, I just stick it in soil, keep it in shade, and it should eventually grow roots.

I agree but also watch not to over water it. It has no roots to take it up. Try misting it every day. Keep the soil moist but not wet or dry. Also each leaf could be rooted if inserted into the soil half way. Good luck and show up what happens.

I have had roots appear in between the leaves from branches like yours that have broken off from mother plant and that have been lying atop the soil. I would just lay it on top of soil and mist...

Just wondering about how this plant grows. Will it get long enough to put in a hanging basket or does it just grow tall? All the ones that broke have grown new tops,i am so glad to see this happening. You can see in the 2nd photo it seems to be growing double crowns where the top was broken off. It's fuzzy sorry but i think you can make out the 2 new crowns.

I really need to pot these plants and was going to put a few in a long oval shaped pot but need to know how they grow. I want to put these in the pot together if possible. They all like bright light but not direct sun.

If i put them in the pot in the same order as above,if the first 1 does hang it can go over the side of the pot (until it gets to long). The curly leaf in the middle, the ice plant on the other end of the oval pot will either fill in the pot or go over the side? Moma always said you try & learn by the mistakes you make, the plants themselves are the best teacher you'll ever have!! Lovey dubby Thumbs up may she "RIP"

I think that is a Crassula perforata, it grows upright, it has a firm stem that keeps it upright as it follows the light.

I remember you have sedum burritos, you can put that on the outer edge, if you want the cascading type succulent then your Crassula perforata and the key lime pie succulent in the middle. Or you can put the ice plant all around the sides. However, I find the ice plants very aggressive growers, they can easily over run the others.

Thanks Tarev, you are correct about the ID of the crassula. I just couldn't remember which crassula it was when i made the post, there are so many of them. Your also correct about the sedum burritos, I made a large hanging basket last summer and put tender sedums, vera higgins & a mystery plant i have had a few years but never been able to I.D. my 2 yr old Gdaughter really likes to stick broken stems into soil and she put 2 tips of my angelina in it.It has made a big difference in space during over wintering vs. each plant in it's own pot.

Here's the basket right before i brought it inside last year.

I don't know how to move the last few post have to ask someone who knows more than me about navigating the site. I will try?? Shrug!

( Hetty when you see this maybe you can help) I am going to just start another thread about which succulents make good companion plants together in pots.
