I have done a brief search on this forum and didn't find anything on procedures to mount broms in a (small)crook of a tree. I have the perfect place for my new broms. How do I set them up there? Do I still need to mount them on to wood?? How many can I put up there?

Thanks for this, Anne. Eventually, would I be able to take off the fishing line? I worry about it embedding into the growing tree trunk. But the Liquid Nails idea, I like!

I think once the brom's roots have taken hold you could remove the line or use strips of pantyhose like the article suggested .. less chance of it cutting into the tree.

Use the panty hose.....I've found that there is less chance of cutting into the plant. I use it for mounting Orchids, Bromes, Dischidia's, Hoya's ..well anything really that can be mounted. Also pad the base of your Brome's with just a bit of well soaked Sphagnum Moss, does two things, keeps provide moisture till they get established, and protects the plant from whatever material you use to tie your plants to the tree.

Or zip ties. But I like the liquid nail.

You might also try using plant stretch tie tape... example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/3... You can buy cheaper at Lowes or HD. That's what I used for airplant and brom. Then you just remove once it's rooted. Since it stretches it won't hurt the brom or the tree :)
