I received a small division, right now it's in a small pot with sphagnum moss. I've had it in the plant room near the plant lights, but I'm trying to get everything outside and was wondering would these prefer to be mounted or should I put in a small slate basket.
As far as medium if in a basket, Sphag. Moss or fine orchid bark or a mix of both ? From what I did read it seems they are not found of being transplanted much, nor of drying out much....

That would be a cutie!
I myself really don't like Sphagnum, things go eventually downhill for me if I use it. I would think your watering practices might decide if you mount the plant or pot? I myself would probably prefer mounted because I water daily.
I also like Coconut fiber a lot. That is the stuff you can buy in mats, and the perennial baskets are lined with it. I soak it and pull it apart a bit and use it the way one might use Sphagnum.

Anyone else?

Thanks Ursula,
I am really leaning toward mounting...( got a really piece of driftwood ) I have some coco fiber too. Since I have Vanda's plus other Orchids, and even some Anthuriums and Philo's mounted I end up watering almost every day if we are not getting rain.

I'll need to let it adjust to the higher light levels outside, tho actually I may keep it in the greenhouse for a while. I think I read where it's an intermediate as far as temps go.

I have had poor results with moss as well but there is always an exception or two. Bill Thoms, the guy who wrote the book on Bulbos, grows all of his Bulbos in it. So, it depends on the orchid and on your watering techniques. I have been growing some of my Bulbos in it with success.

The folks that gave it to me have theirs growing in a 12 in. pot in moss. It's in a Greenhouse tho, so get's an even watering pattern. Because my greenhouse can get rather warm in summer I tend to move almost everything outside. I have had them in a small plastic pot with loosely packed moss while deciding how I wanted to proceed with it. In the meantime , one of them has started growing two new bulbs. My only concern with mounting is attaching. The roots are so fine, I'd have to pad them carefully with coco fiber and probably some moss also to keep them from drying out to fast. Most of mounted ones have to be watered daily or darn close to daily to keep them from drying out to fast in the summer.

I may have time this afternoon to fiddle with it a bit. As far as being moved, repotted are they that fussy ? ( didn't seem to bother them when plucked from the mother plant), I was thinking I might let them grow in the basket awhile till they got a little bigger then mount.

Ok...what I decided to do was to let them get a little bigger, but I wanted to get them out of the plastic pots. I thought I had some net pots I could put them in but of course No...so put them in this little wood slate basket, 3 in inside diameter. I mixed in so Coco fiber with the Sphagnum moss they were already in. When they get a little bigger I'll mount them. I googled to see if I could find pics mounted to see if I should mount them leaves up/down/or sideways. Didn't find alot of pics of mounted ones but saw plenty in baskets. I

I've had this piece of driftwood all wired up for a while now waiting for something special to put on it.
