Ok. So I finally got an iris blooming! Starwoman (Stacy) had said a week or so ago that it would be two weeks (give or take) before we saw bloom in South Central PA. I did not post anything, but thought NO WAY. I was wrong. Duh. (My wife ask if I seriously doubted a woman). What a dummy.

My 2014 bloom date was 4/27 and the happy cultivar is:

Muggles

Congrats! AND I am impressed that you consistently get blooms in April!! I have some this year, but usually it is May before the blooms open in Durham. Lucky you!

Really, Leslie! I always forget that North Carolina is north of me (doesn't seem right somehow).

Leslie-These are SDB s rather than the Tall Bearded. Sometimes it is not fair to even look at a single cultivar because I may move it within the yard. That can have a big influence on when it blooms. I will have to go to some late bloomers and compare them over the years to see how the seasons change as to bloom time.

Greg: My blooms so far are all SDB's too with the exception of TB Footloose which always blooms very early. And my first bloom, a dwarf, opened on April 20th.

Greg, you are ahead of me with your first bloom, however, I do have a couple of bud stalks coming up on Season Ticket which is an intermediate. My dwarfs should be on their way in a few days hopefully. We are in the middle of monsoon season this week - Ugh!

Lots of rain. Forecast has flood warnings up for 70 hrs with 5 - 8 inches of rain in the first 50 hour period. Crazy.

The funny thing about this years delay is that I did not see any bloom stalks or "bump outs" three days before I got the bloom. They moved that fast. Now that it has cooled off and raining cats and dogs, I have zip. Looks like this weekend will be sunny and full of new blooms.

Leslie - do you want Muggles? I am sure we can trade. If I visit my parents and leave from work, I would be coming down I-95 to I-85 to I-40.

No pumilas in bloom, but a bud showing color on MDB 'Spring Beacon.' A very gloomy day here so i suppose it will open tomorrow. The species pumilas usually bloom in April. This site has to get pumila in its vocabulary--tired of the red lines.

They are rather tiresome, aren't they, Lucy ! As a very poor speller ,I have learned to just ignore whatever "spell-check" tells me....it's easier on my "stress level " ...Arlyn

& I spell it correctly.

I've had SDB's have been blooming for about a week now in zone 5. I thought we were late, but is sounds like lots of you in higher zones are even later.

Greg, I would love to add Muggles to my "little family!" Not sure I have much to trade yet, but I am sure we can work something out.

Late season here. However there are warm temperatures which can make everything bloom at once & catch up the season.
