There are swamps nearby but they like my feeders. This is the last of the bird seed. We put the feeders away to keep bears off the property!

Can't say I blame you there, bears aren't my favorite animal to have around. We have very persistent Raccoons, so I have to bring my feeders in at night and as I live right next to the forest I know the bears are always close by.

At first I thought the bird on the left was a Female Purple Finch then I thought it was Female Redpoll as there is a hint of red on head or maybe it is an immature Male Purple Finch. Picture taken May 26, 2010 and Female Rose Breasted Grossbeak on right had probably just showed up for the first time for the season.

Ruffed Grouse commonly referred to as Birch Partridge, normally feeds on ground under feeder. State bird of Pennsylvania.

This flying squirrel is also another night time visitor when I don't bring feeders in until after dark. He is very easy to approach and is not bothered by flash.

Flying squirrels and red squirrels are cuties...until they move into your walls!!! You get a lot of wildlife there, Ken. Same here. One spring there was a skunk fight under the car. The car didn't smell very good for weeks!

Beautiful bird and shots. I like the movement in the third picture while the bird is still fairly well focused.

The darn yellow bellied sapsucker has arrived here today and insists on banging on the flashing on the barn roof at all hours of the day! Hell of a way to attract a woman! This woman is annoyed!

Hilarious! I can relate, Kathy. The mocking birds are winding up for the all nighters here. They screem at the cats all day, and sing all night. Thumbs down
