Where do you place your text to get it beside the pictures?

Your garden is ahead of mine. Mine has come along nicely in the last few days, but there are still quite a few that have not yet unfurled. Love your pics. I think your 'Curly Fries' is curlier than mine.

How large does 'Lakeside April Snow' get? I've got a bit of a snow and ice theme, but I can't add any more really big plants.

I am not very good at knowing how the computer works but when I load a picture a several digit number comes on the screen and I type the name to the right of it. Then I preview it and then load another picture. I hope that helps. Lakeside April Snow is a medium sized hosta in my garden, that plant is several years old and looks about the same each year. We are having a little bit of an early spring here in Utah this year. I have a number of more pictures to post from my garden and also a bunch from a friends garden. His garden is more mature than mine and he has some huge hostas. I, like you, am adding small and medium plants but did order a start of Bridal Falls that is pictured in the new Hosta Magazine. I love Niagara Falls and one with a white band can only be better.........Paul

Nice ones Paul -- can you believe my Spilt Milk and Inniswood didnt make it thru our winter I have had those for 5 years - I am really surprised.

I have a lot of pictures of Hosta in my own garden, in my friends large mature Hosta garden, and next weekend will have more pictures taken at a large Hosta Nursery in Salt Lake City which I am visiting. Having said that there seems to be very little activity or interest on this forum, not like other forums, so I will continue to add them to the data base but will not bother posting them here.

I am sorry you decided not to post your pics because of the lack of activity, I have no explanation for why the hosta forum is not more active, I just know without your photos and comments it will be missing a lot. I would love to hear any thoughts you have on how to increase the interest here, I am not a big hosta contributor just grow a few but I come here more to learn from others like you with more experience and I would hate to see that not be available for others like me coming here . I guess what I am saying is, would you reconsider your decision not to post your pics here and only in the data base. I guess most of us leave it up to others to do the posting and commenting, but if we all decide to do that there will be no forum and no data base either. Maybe the saying "you don't miss your water till the well runs dry" can be applied here.

I know I always enjoy your pictures, but don't always comment on them. Your pictures will be missed on this forum, but it is time consuming to post both here and the database.

@Paul2032, I hope you're still watching this thread. Wanted to ask where your hosta nursery in Salt Lake City is? I will be back there visiting my kids and grandkids in July and hope to have more time to shop for plants then. In April when my newest granddaughter was born I was too busy and exhausted just planting all the plants we had brought from their old house, and of course grandmothering!

I also would like to know how you keep them so beautiful - no matter how much slug bait we used, the Hostas at my daughter's other house were just eaten down to nothing by snails. Any advice?

If I may comment on the lack of interest, everybody's got to contribute to keep a forum alive. I mean, not just look and lurk, and not just post comments, Post your Pictures!! IF only one person posts pictures they get bored very quickly looking at just their own contributions. My experience is on the Florida Gardening forum, and I try to post a picture every single time I make a comment, so as to keep things interesting. In Florida there is absolutely no excuse to not post a picture, there's always something interesting in a Florida garden.

Post Pictures People!! Paul wants to see yours, too! (sorry, I don't have any hostas here, but will be planting them in Utah soon!)

I guess it is time for me to get over my little snit and share some more pictures. The Hostas are looking so nice. Hope you don't get tired of seeing my plants.......

Loved the pictures Paul! You have such beautiful Hosta plants, and I love that you are posting them, and I appreciate that you are naming them. Mine are just coming up and I don't have that many so it has been a treat to see yours and Ann's. I think some of them might be calling my name.

That's the spirit, we all are entitled to our little snits every now and then. I think it actually helped some of us realize that leaving it up to others to comment and post pictures is not always the best policy.
It is very easy to sit back and look at the photos get what info we need from them an move on with out commenting, but maybe we should at least give a thumb if not a worded comment.

Those pictures just give me ideas. Love to look at them.

I'll be adding more pictures but I'm tired from a day of yard work and as going to go to bed and watch TV. Friday my Sister-In Law and I are going to Hosta House in SLC and I will take lots of pictures....

Paul, I will be posting pictures soon. I am way behind schedule because I have extra clean-up since the hail storm did a lot of damage to my hostas.

Finals are next week, and I will have more time in the gardens. I have been working outside until after dark to try to catch up.

In the display gardens I am cutting off the damaged leaves way down near the crown, and with most potted young plants I am cutting all back to near the crown.

It was bad enough that I had and still have more leaves to pick up than most springs.

I am rather new to this forum and I will be more active than most since hostas are my number 1 plant love.

I have been wondering if it would be OK to cut off damaged leaves? Especially when some of my plants had such few leaves left, but if I am reading your post correctly it is OK to cut all the leaves off down to crown level. I wanted to ask how long it would take them to grow back, but realized that some plants will probably grow leaves back pretty fast will others will be very slow.

Gerry....we will be looking forward to your pictures and some discussion. My plant of Blue Ivory unfolded early and some leaves suffered some browning from frost damage. I have been cutting them off and it is putting up some nice fresh leaves......
