Well, let's just say we're off! The running part is a bit slow yet! Hilarious! I have color showing on a few more, and I still have some of the little guys that haven't bloomed yet. Pulled off two rotted bloom stalks today, Not fun one was an only stalk, and too immature to try to bloom in water. It was the stem explosion thing, rotting in the middle of the stem. My poor drama queen is having stress with rot too. Don't think I'll see the queen this year. Oh, the trials of irises. Better get ready, my cook out guest should be arriving soon.

Nice one Tom. Thumbs up Looks like Sorbonne is going to bloom for me this year. I have had it for four years now. The first year it got the rot, but it survived and is now sending up some stalks.

Boy Tom, I think I got problems with all the pathogens running rampant in my garden, and reading your post, all I can think is how blessed I am not to have stems rotting from the inside. So sing lets all sing Hallelujah for your first bloom!

Yah, and at least you spelled it right! Hilarious! When it comes to spelling I always liked Will Roger's Quote, "I never met a man I could trust who only had one way to spell a word." Oh well, we can't edit the title, so it will have to stay wrong.

Well, I have my second TB iris open this afternoon. I'll post it, but you have to promise not to laugh! It's a seedling from a bee pod. Pod came off my purple seedling, and the pollen obviously was an historic that was next to it at the time. (Honorable) So it looks like an almost historic. I think it's headed to the compost pile, but it is my second bloom, so I have to share it. You promised, don't laugh!
The first two were taken in the shade the last one in bright sun.

I am going to put an iris catching net over your compost pile. There is nothing wrong with this little guy or that red noid you were going to pitch after bloom. Put them in pots and give them away at church, or the farmers market. Just attach a pic and I bet there will be takers. How else are we going to get the common man hooked? Just saying.....

I'm not pitching my red noid! I'm getting close to an ID with Mary Ann and Arlyn's help. I love my red NOID. I have it in 3 locations in my gardens. But this little guy I suppose I could put in a grab bag when I have my Iris sale for someone who just want an iris.

Note that it is an unnamed seedling so people will not later fuss with a name. for someone who just wants purple in the garden, it would be nice.

A hundred years from now, someone will be wondering what iris that is? Maybe will be comparing holographic images to see if they can make a match. Rolling on the floor laughing It's a tough little bugger, it stayed in a pot for 2 winters with no special care, then I planted it to see if it would bloom.
