We had some hard rains today. Before we got 3" in 2 hours, I moved my DRs out of the rain and under the eaves to join 3 others. They get a lot of sun where they were but they also get a lot of sun under the eaves as it faces West especially since I put some reflecting shiny Mylar insulation sheets behind it. And it is out of the rain unless it's blowing. Is this good enough? Or do they need complete coverage when the rain is blowing at them? We are expecting more heavy rain this week and all my DRs have buds on them.

I'm sure others will have different opinions but mine are in unglazed clay pots and I don't worry about them. They dry fast after the rain.

Occasionally we have four to six days of rain. UGH, we sun lovers all go nuts. The Adeniums don't much like it. I don't have the best draining medium in the pots for that much water. The plants that are very much rootbound are OK. newly potted are protected, because they do get rot sometimes. Sometimes too much water settles into bud groups and they rot.

The worst problem is that when raindrops are big, and they hit the soft flower petals, the flowers get ugly brown bruises.

Oh, and sometimes plants grow so much during the wet cloudy time, that they get sunburnt if the first day of sun is cloudless, wowee.

JT, the two you sent me are doing great! I'll have to take photos sometime, but I have so many plants on my deck it's difficult to get a decent photo...

And rain in Texas isn't something to sniff at...

Thanks for your comments. We got 6" of rain since yesterday and still falling. Checked on the DRs and they flowers are wet. Thumbs down But they don't look as over-soaked as my plumeria are. But I know the plumies like the rain. DRs are in clay pots except for the oldest one, in a Bonsai glazed pot with super good draining soil. Good enough, I hope!
