With all the pictures of beautiful flowers being posted (and I don't have a single one in bloom), at least I can now see that I will have blooms in a few weeks or so. The group you see are all rooted and this is approximately 1/2 of my rooted plumeria. Two of the pictures show the flower stalk, one is 'Celadine' and one is 'Vera Cruz Rose'. Other plants are forming so many terminal leafs that I can't yet tell how many of those will have flower stalks as well. Here are the first two NOID seedlings I germinated back in Dec. 2013. They are now about 8" tall.

A NOID is an unknown named plant. Typically you see that term used frequently with orchids but it is also used with Plumeria and probably other genera as well.

Would Noid also apply to a seedling from a named parent ? Or would the seedling be like a " plastic pink seedling"

If you know the parent, then it would indeed be a 'Plastic Pink' (or insert parent name here) seedling. You can then give it a name of your own since the plant will be unique.

Hybrid Plants: A hybrid plumeria is created when plant breeders intentionally cross-pollinate two different varieties of a plant, aiming to produce an offspring, or hybrid, that contains the best traits of each of the parents. Cross-pollination is a natural process that occurs within members of the same plant species.

As Hetty says, the vast majority of our seedlings will be cross-pollinated rather than true hybrids and thus each and every one of them will be unlike any other Plumeria. The plants and the flowers may be similar to others, but their individual DNA will be different. That's why she was able to name hers (they are basically her one-of-a-kind property) and why she took the best to present to the Plumeria Society of America for recognition.

The only one in the Greenhouse that refused to go dormant. She's looking like she needs some food, but still pumped out 1-3 flowers at a time. This was marked "Orange" NOID

Thanks, Ken. When I bought it in Corpus Christi I was hoping for "orange". But this is pretty, too.

My plumeria trees (in the ground) are only now putting out leaves. I'm hoping for more blooms than I had last year -- they were good but not spectacular. I've given them a foliar spray with liquid seaweed and will apply fertilizer this weekend.
