Looks slow around her this year. I have only picked up 4 this year. My nursery that carries the different coleus closed down and is out of business.

I found a nursery that had a few of the named popular ones so I purchased them. One that I have been looking for years. It is Kiwi Fern. I have seen some labeled as Kiwi Fern but did not have the strong red and yellow edging on the leaves.

This is the one I purchased last year labled as Kiwi Fern. It is not vibrant so it is not the Kiwi Fern I remember.

There is a picture here that has the color I remember Kiwi Fern with the red and yellow edge. Not this boring green edge pretend Kiwi Fern that is being sold these days.

No it never changed all summer. It continued to look like the same way. There is only one pic in the data base that has the true colors of Kiwi Fern when it was first released. It had yellow edge, red, then shades of purple. It was a very pretty Coleus.

This is what I remember Kiwi Fern looking like. Now when you see them the color is gone only green and purple.

Instead of hunting for my Dave coleus every year I just take cuttings and grow indoors under lights for winter. Any gnats are taken care of with hydrogen peroxide and water solution. Leaves change colors indoors so it's always fun when they are planted out insun and get their true color back. I just planted out some cuttings from the cuttings in my shady garden. Not sure if the names but I think one is kong rose, they are really loving the HOT temps we've been having.

The cuttings I saved overwinter are finally starting to take off and the newly purchased ones are doing well too. Most are in pots on the driveway and front porch.

I also planted mostly coleus in my stacking planter this year.

Cute arrangement Susan.

Thanks. I do like coleus and use a lot in pots. I think I ended up saving 9 flats of cuttings in doors last winter, plus picked up a few new ones this year.

That' a nice one Allison.

The coleus in this container are all in gallon sized pots. I had to take Big Red Judy out yesterday and move it to a larger pot, but the others are large enough now to fill in the container. Anyone know the name of the green on.?

I'm really learning to like Angelonia. They seem to look nice with the coleus.

The rabbits are systematically eating their way thru my coleus this year. I'm done with coleus. I usually start cuttings in fall but I'm so disgusted that I'm not going to do it anymore.
