I live in Iowa, preparing to move onto the family farm. I am retired now and just looking for something to do..LOL. I have about 4 acres and would like to raise organic vegetables for myself and for sale at farmers markets. Any tips would be appreciated, any questions will be answered. Thanks for reading this. I'm your neighbor to the East (IL) - looks like you live near the QC? I garden organically (small vegetable garden/ numerous large perennial gardens) and have a small orchard. Welcome to ATP!

Hi Loren -- are you already an experienced gardener? Has your acreage been under cultivation recently? Do you already have the equipment needed to grow a large garden? Unless you have experience with gardening on that scale -- and have help available -- I'd suggest starting out considerably smaller. (On the other hand, I'm not experienced in gardening on that scale myself, so probably not the best one here to be handing out advice !)

@wapsiriver -- Loren, since no one has really come forward here to share their experience, you might want to re-post on the "Edibles and Preserving" forum; there are a lot of knowledgeable growers there!
