I bought this semp labeled as Silverine. I just wanted to make sure that it is before I posted it to the database. It is in an area that receives only morning sun.

When it was tiny it looked exactly like

but the more it ages, the less it looks like Silverine. Could it have been labeled incorrectly or is it within the possibility of Silverine due to the environmental conditions? I have another one near the same area that was labeled as Silverine (from the same company) and it is slowly changing into this look as well.

Any help is appreciated! Hurray!

It looks like it could be J.C.

@JungleShadows know this semp. Let's have him look at your photo and see what he thinks.

Yeah, I thought so too, but wasn't sure if very low light (only morning sun) would make them elongate?

Low light can make leaves become longer. And stress can make the tips red.

Wow thanks! I just guessed that is how semps etiolated. Sticking tongue out Kind of surprised I was right...

I went back and found the arrival pics of the Silverine in question. It was one of these six. (Unless I somehow mislabeled it. I don't think that happened though since all other semps are accounted for.)

Thanks Kevin! @JungleShadows
So it's impossible under any conditions for a semp with tip color to be Silverine? Stress can't make the tips red as Lynn suggested?

Thanks again,
J.C.

JC, Have never seen tips just appear. 'Silverine' is VERY naked though and I've seen LOTS of that plant. The clump in my rock garden is definitely stressed and NO tips.

The color of your plant looks wrong too, not really silver. With 'Silverine' there is no mistake.

Patty's picture is very accurate. When grown more lushly it will form more of a lotus-style rosette and you see more of the silver. The most extreme seedling from it I named 'Silver Song'. It is colored like 'Silverine' but the leaves are much wider and it has peach flush at times and is very lotus-formed. If it blooms this season I hope to use it with some other colors as I think that form is very attractive.
