I want to thank Andrew,
He asked all that I needed to know. I have had a hard time trying to know when to give water and not. Also how to tell what is happening by the looks of them.
You all said, a lot of great things.
Thank you all.
Thank you Andrew

Have been a plant lover all my life
Its been about 6 weeks. I just am so confuse with the watering. I have has many plants in my life, but for some reason, I am having a hard time, under stand these. When I get them, I clean under each one then I out it in the pot. I do water them when I do that.. Then I wait to make sure they are dry, and then I get them looking like the picture. I don`t know if it`s the heat. Maybe when they don't really have roots I need to water them a little. My soil has a little of everything I could put in it, so that it does not hold water..Also if you move one in another pot, but you know you have not over water it, could it be root rot, from the old pot, and die in the new one ? Sorry for asking all these Questions.
I just would love to know just by looking at them, what I need to do. I hate every time I lose one. To me they and all plants have life. Thank you for letting me be one this group. I should need to learn from you all.
Thank you
Billy Perez

Billy, Sometimes what I do when I buy a new semp plant is to place it where I think it will do OK so that it gets used to the conditions of your space. If it doesn't seem to like it then I move it to another space to see if it stays OK there. A plant can suffer when it undergoes new changes in growing conditions (new pot, more sun, less sun, different soil, etc. That's why I don't repot immediately when I bring it home.
When after a week or so, the plant still looks OK, I will then take it out of the pot and look to see how much of a root system it has. If it doesn't have much roots, you can repot but water the plant by using a spray bottle to mist the plant. You can start watering when the plant gets established in its new pot.

The combination of heat and water can do great harm. So Bev's advice about misting the plants (lightly) would be good for your area of the U.S.
What is your winter like? Does it get cold, snow?

Let's see if @twitcher can add more information on growing in your weather conditions.

Billy, what plants specifically are you considering to buy?
I have always heard good things about Squaw Mountain and Perennial Obsessions for sempervivum and sedum shopping.
Other members can pipe in about other nurseries depending upon what kind of plants you are looking for.

Thanks,
I took them out of the sun, and started giving the chicks water spray over them twice a day. This morning they look happier. Thank to you, I may be able to save them. For now on, I will put them on a tray, for a few weeks and then in a pot and a little water..
Thank to you all..

Just don't mist them in the heat of the day. Do it very early in the morning, or later in the evening when it cools down.
It is fun to see you experimenting with what will work for your growing conditions. Keep up the good work.
