Does anyone have Morden Sunrise? I am thinking of buying one. Does it perform for you?

Thank you.

Porkpal, I also love the flower and I would love to have it.

Here is the challenge; I need Morden Sunrise for the front of the border. I planted a little hedge of Flower Carpet roses in the front yard next to the pavement to keep dogs away. This front row position means that all leafs have to perfectly healthy because they are on display all the time. So far, Flower Carpet roses manage to stay spotless - no spraying at all. I would put Morden Sunrise between Apple Blossom Flower Carpet and Bonica. I wonder wheather Morden Sunrise can stay healthy.

Would it be easier to decide whether Morden Sunrise fits there if I post a picture?

Zuzu, does Modern Sunrise get black spot? Is it disease resistant?

Again, thank you.

Morden Sunrise does get black spot in my garden, Jasmin, but so does everything else here (including Flower Carpet roses), so I can't say how vulnerable it might be under other conditions.

I bought Modern Sunrise for 1.15$. The plant was neglected in the garden center. There are some black spots on the leafs, but also some new healthy growth. I am going to plant it right away.

Thank you for your help.

Morden Sunrise grows well here in Kansas where humidity is usually low. This year, we've had unusual rain and humidity and I notice Morden Sunrise has much less blackspot than the other roses. You found a great bargain! I saw it this year at Home Depot and was waiting for them to go less than $15, and they sold out at $15---and they were labeled Mr. Lincoln or something crazy like that. The Bonicas were labeled Morden Sunrise, so that's how I figured out the mixup.
If you are asking about the color combinations, I think I would put another color in between the roses. You could do this with annuals or perennials, not necessarily roses at all. Morden Sunrise has a clear color where the other two are more creamy pastels. Maybe some heliotrope? Something dark purple, or even a dark grass, for example. Maybe Red Flame miscanthus. ( purpurascens)
Here, Morden Sunrise and Bonica get about a foot taller than the flower carpets do. Don't know if that will matter to you or not.
Hope that helps! Post pictures!

The nurseries push the Morden series here because it is a Canadian series of roses & they grow quite nicely here in Colorado.

no, if you want a rose just for the name, you want this one:

Rose (Rosa 'Tipsy Imperial Concubine')

I bought it just for the name.. but it didn't survive (I probably killed it).

Cindi,

Here is a picture of my front yard. Flower Carpet roses are planted in the first row to form a hedge.

The whole area on the left had to be replanted. The city was repairing the sewage system, and I had to move the plants. Worst of all, they took all my good soil and brought me sand (beach sand, play sand.) Anyway, I managed to save all the roses, but I managed only to cover them with some soil and oak leafs before the winter came. Now the whole area has to be replanted.

All your suggestions and comments will be highly appreciated.

I am thinking Morden Sunrise can be planted below the white clematis. Hope you can see Coral Flower Carpet in the middle of the picture; a white clematis is on the right side and Bonica is far right.

Two Red Flower Carpet roses are on the left side. I plan to move Scarlet Flower Carpet next to Coral, and Morden Sunrise would come a bit lower, next to the white clematis. Apple Blossom can be moved next to Bonica. What are your thoughts?
