Received my prizes from the last raffle - 'sweet summer love' and 'amethyst beauty' - which I posted photos. Hoping I can keep the smaller 'amethyst beauty' growing.

Thanks Dave & GardenHarvest.

Good to hear. Keep them well mulched and they'll do fine.

How big were the roots?
Can't wait to see the blooms. Next year?

I'm so worry about the 'amethyst beauty' - what's wrong with it? Have not seen any growth since I received it. It's been in the east kitchen window - morning light. What does it need?

Is there a reason you haven't planted it outdoors? They grow best outside.

Arlene, I haven't planted it outdoors since we are planning to move -- not sure when but was hoping to get the root system big and healthy, maybe transplant into a bigger pot.

Would you consider putting it outdoors in morning sun, until it's time to move?

Good advice. I have some of mine in pots in mostly shade/morning sun . I plant them similarly as if in the ground: some compost, expanded shale, bone meal on alayer under the roots and mulch. And water with epsom salts

I was surprised that one in a quart pot that was hiding behind a bush near the house survived through 2 unusual cold weeks last winter

Sometimes they do surprise us with their survival methods.
