Regan's website now includes a page for the new 2015 roses. Anna's Promise was already available last year, of course, but the rest look new to me.

I keep telling myself I am not going to plant more roses over and over again. I've found 5 that I want to add to the garden. I only hope I can keep on resisting. Hauling the mulch to help them survive in this heat is getting harder and harder each year !

I went to the chipping pile this morning. The have a mountain of beautiful stuff and I brought a car load home and need to go back and get more. All of the mulch I put down this spring is disappearing rapidly in this heat.

I am going to have to keep repeating my mantra. Oh, but the temptation is great.

I'm determined not to buy any more. I have a few good spots for roses, but I also have lots of roses that are growing in too much shade, so I'll be more likely to move roses this fall than to buy them.

Of course, all of that determination could be neutralized by a single look at the Palatine site when it's updated in August or September, especially if Palatine offers grafted versions of the roses I now have in own-root form. I would love to replace my puny own-root Las Vegas, Osiria, Lynette, Monika, Out of Africa, Flaming Peace, and some others with grafted roses from Palatine. They've carried all of these in the past, so I can only hope they'll carry them again this year.

Oh, yeah ... it's so very tempting.

Since I don't have gopher problems where I want to plant new roses ... glacier slurry certainly slows them down ... I don't mind getting roses budded to Dr. H. All it took for my determination to waiver was one look at this site. Even with shipping costs, the prices are comparable to the one nursery I trust up here.

Arrrrrrrrrrghhhh .... I just can't keep this up. I am not going to look again. No .. I just can't ...

Regan has Colette! Their shipping prices are not tooooo outrageous. Would I be better off buying from them or sticking to Palatine?
Lyn, I could make myself resist easily by going outside and looking at all the bare ugly stems on my poor roses. The grasshoppers have been voracious this past month.
For some reason, they don't eat the crape myrtles. Right now, the best color here besides the daylilies are the crape myrtles. Even with the extreme cold last winter, they are the tallest and nicest they have ever been. Some years they die back to the ground here. Not this year!

Regan's selling Colette as an own-root rose. I don't know why. I hope they don't stop selling grafted roses. I'd rather get one from Palatine, but that's my subjective choice. By September you'll know whether Palatine's carrying Colette this year. If not, you can order it from Regan after that. Regan doesn't send the roses until after the start of the new year anyway.

I saw colette at a nursery in El Cajon and I think it was own root there, too. Wonder why?
Are the roses from Regan similar in size to Palatine? Palatine sends the nicest bare root roses I've ever seen.

I am sorry. I've had some grasshopper damage, but not much. I've got a lot of fried blooms like Toni and a lot of small blooms, but the roses are fine. Even the gopher damaged rose is coming back.

I think I am going to lose my two Liquid Amber trees. Three years of drought is just one year too many for them to make it.

My A/C is making odd noises so I can't use it tonight. At the moment, I'm feeling like this is the summer from H*ll and can hardly wait for it to be over. I'll take the cold over the heat any day.

Cindi, Palatine's roses are much nicer than Regan's roses, but both places are good sources. Regan has a much bigger selection. For one thing, Regan still carries David Austin roses, whereas Palatine stopped carrying Austins a few years ago.

Lyn, a well-established Liquidambar tree shouldn't have any trouble dealing with drought. Are yours young trees? I had a huge Liquidambar on my property when I bought my house, but I got rid of it a few years later when it lifted the corner of my foundation. They really don't belong within 25 feet of a building.
