I have a plant that was sold as Zauschneria garretti 'Peach Carpet'. It is a local thing-- I don't know if it is a hybrid or a sport or how it came to be.
It is a real plant and distinctly a different color than 'Orange Carpet', but it is not a 'real' or recognized cultivar so I presume that I cannot propose the addition to the database. Is there an appropriate place to submit a photo, perhaps with the cultivar in the comment area? And would it be better with 'Orange Carpet' or the parent entry Epilobium canum subsp. garrettii presuming that's even where it came from? Or, should I just keep it a secret?

I would add the photo to the entry for Epilobium canum subsp. garrettii, which is the currently accepted name for the former Zauschneria garrettii, and I would identify the plant as Peach Carpet in the photo caption. That way, if it ever does become a "real" cultivar, it will be easy to find the photo and move it to a new entry.

I wonder if we have a general entry for Epilobium where it could be posted? I looked and didn't find one but I often have trouble finding the entry for general/parent plants in our database.

There is a general entry for Epilobium, Fireweed (Epilobium) but in this case we know the species, so it would be better to add it to the species entry.

I figured there probably was a general entry and that I just wasn't finding it. I typed in Epilobium because I didn't know the common name and now I see the general entry at the bottom of page 7. Now that I know the common name is Fireweed and type that name in I do see the general entry is at the very bottom of that page.

If you open any Epilobium entry on the search list and click on the underlined "Epilobium" at the top, you'll be presented with an alphabetical list of all the epilobiums, and the general entry will be the first one. Smiling

@zuzu

Thank you! I never knew that I could get to a general entry like that but I'm a slow learner. Smiling

Lin, this only applies to general entries that aren't parent plant entries. If there is a parent plant entry, the underlined name at the top of every entry for the genus will be the name of a custom database rather than the name of the genus. When you click on that name, you'll be taken to the home page of the custom database and will have a choice of the full alphabetical list of plants or the generic (parent plant) entry. You can see the choices on the home page of this custom database: The Roses Database

Cool-- Thank You!
I doubt it will ever become a "real" cultivar Hilarious!
but I'll put in under the accepted species name, just in case, if I can ever get a half-decent picture of it that is...
