I just want to wish the man who ultimately directed me to this site and has been very kind and helpful in my quest for lily knowledge. Happy birthday @roosterlorn! May your trumpets be tall and graceful.

Thanks for the 'Happy Birthdays'. Yes, I had a good day. The weather was beautiful for a slow backyard BBQ and the kids did all the cooking. Love that fresh picked sweet corn on the grill! Everybody had a great time! Oh, I did manage to sneak away a few minutes to do a couple pollenations Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Happy Birthday, Lorn!

I've been in Wisconsin over the weekend, visiting a friend and fellow member of NARGS (North American Rock Garden Society). I organized a group of twelve of us from Minnesota for a summer trip there (Hayward). My friend hardly grows any lilies 'cause of all the wildlife there, but it was an amazing excursion. Funny, I thought only Minnesota had real pipestone, but there is a tiny quarry on this creek sorta near him in the Blue Hills.

Lefty, I know right where that was taken. Did you see any bears while you were out? Great pic, wall worthy indeed.

Really? The area is not marked, there is no place to park (unless you have a high clearance vehicle) and you can't even find it on the internet! But on the weekends, Mike says there often are a few people. Actually, thank goodness. The place is so small that it would easily become decimated with too much foot traffic.

There were a few conifer species there, but the ones in the pic are all Canada hemlock (Tsuga canadensis). No bears, but there was a group of us making a lot of noise.
