Dave, I tried to give someone acorns for a photo and got this error message:
Error: The number of acorns you give must be at least 0.01. Confused

I tried 3 and 5

Try using a decimal, Sue. That usual works. For example, 1.0, 3.0, 5.0 etc.

For some reason it seems to show up like that sometimes. Hopefully it is a glitch that Dave can fix. In the meantime, just use the "work around".

It is a bug in the system where very occasionally it won't accept the acorn tip amount and will give you the error. It's something that I've been investigating but the fix has eluded me because the error occurs so randomly and infrequently. When it happens to you, just try it again and it'll usually work the second time.

Thanks Dave. I actually tried it three times and got the same error message. Finally got it trough using the decimal point as suggested.

Which photo were you trying to give an acorn to? And were you doing it from within the database, or was it within a popup dialog? What page were you on when you clicked on the photo? (The homepage, perhaps?)

I helped someone just last week that came across this error. We were chatting in treemail and she sent me a screen shot of the error. In this case, she had clicked on a photo on the home page in the "Recent Images from the Plant Database" section. Again, my suggestion worked for her. It seems like the system is looking for a decimal point but can't find it when a whole number is entered.

I've never been able to get it to work by just trying again. It does seem to be rare, I have come across it maybe two or three times.

Dave, I just now gave acorns for this post.
5, 5. and 5.0 didn't work.
After shift + F5, 5 worked.

Hope this helps.

Dave - I have been trying to give Sharon an acorn for her Yarrow article and it won't let me. The error message is
"Error: The number of acorns you give must be at least 0.01."

I've tried giving 1.0, 01.0, 1, 1.00 .... none will work!

So I got out of the article and then went back and tried "1" again and it worked.
