I got it long ago, must be way over 20 years from a nursery and it was sold to me as Cyperus longus. It is growing and spreading in the water saturated borders around the pond.
This year I paid more attention to it blooming and googled Cyperus longus. And there I cannot see the likeness with mine.. Confused

Today i took some photos of the plant in seed.

It's not Cyperus longus Myriam, I have that and Carex pseudocyperus, my original plant of the Carex has struggled in the place I have it in bog soil at the side of the drain, but it keeps setting plants here and there elsewhere.

The flowers don't match Carex pseudocyperus but the leaves do look like a Carex. Sedges have edges, do the leaves feel sharp on the edges?

Thanks, Janet, no the edges of the leaves don't feel sharp or cut into your fingers.
I've done some search in the genus Carex too but couldn't find a match either, for sure is that it likes it wet, it even grows inside the pond!

The flowers don't resemble either Carex or Cyperus Myriam!

I guess it' s useless asking which nursery you got it from as it's so long ago.

I have a vague idea of what nursery it could be Janet, I looked and he has Cyperus longus listed among his water plant section, but his website has no photos illustrating the plant.
I know he is not fond of computers and the site on line has been made by someone else..I could ask my brother though. as he is a regular client..

I tip my hat to you. nodding

I found it by searching for "specialist grass nursery", I found one with a long list but only a few links to a photo so I started to search for each genus. That brought me to the hlasek site which has a lot of European bugs and plants, I then went to the galleries and looked in Juncales. That's how I found it by going through the list! Most grasses are native, the two I have are native to here which I didn't know.

Thanks for the acorn tip!
