Because of the Texas heat, I'm reduced to harvesting only winter squash blossoms, eggplant and chilies.

Much of our stuff has quit, too. I just planted new butternut squash seedlings a couple days ago and they germinated this morning. Our cucumbers, watermelons and cantaloupes are still going great.

I'm glad to hear you recently planted squash seeds, Dave. A few made it through the SVB wrath but most succumbed so I was going to go with a second round of planting next week once my seeds arrived---just ordered new ones last night. Hoping I have enough time to get some fall fruit!

Took this photo yesterday morning:

If you get those seeds in right now you shouldn't have any trouble getting a harvest!

Don't give up hope. August if brutal! In another month it will be time to plant Round 2 Veggies. Give those seedlings some protection from the heat. Our summers are long with enough time for new plantlets to take hold and give us some Fall veggies.
