This caught me by surprise! Had no idea it was going to bloom.

I have a tendency to hand pollinate every flower that blooms in my yard when I have the inclination, plus we had an abundance of flying insect critters this year.

I never saw any seeds either when I had one. Eventually the plant didn't return after one bad winter.

As I mentioned, I hand pollinated mine.

I'll hand pollinate mine this year for sure...for all the many thousands of flowers mine has.. you'd think there would be more insect interest... but I seldom see anything paying any attention to them... I geuss it is kind of a foreign thing... I've likely got the only flowers of this one for many hundreds of miles around..

I always try to pollinate with pollen from a different flower on the same vine. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Yes Joseph...it's quite pretty. Wonderful color and piles of flowers...I use it as a screen between my garden and a new neighboring building... It fills in compleatly and does that job with great beauty

Pretty indeed! Last year was my first year with it .. it's gone somewhat dormant at the moment, sulking in the greenhouse. What I like about it is that it seems it can be very happy as a container plant as it's growth is not rampant like some woody vines can be.

MMMM not rampant...you might have a different one than mine ;-) ....
Mine easily grows 10-15 ft in a season..with many branches reaching out like that.. Mine is in a container also
12" x 12" x 12 ft long...the roots grow to the full extent of the container...so it figures it can grow as much as it wants up top... That might be the difference in the way they seem to grow.
I bought mine as a pink jasmine..From an online grower without a clue......but with some lovely plants

Mine is in a 1 gallon pot so it's roots are probably pretty crowded which might be slowing it down .. I'll be potting it up into a bigger pot this Spring .. I'll be interested to see what happens with more leg room.

yes.. plants are amazing.. ego's kept in line.. the roots make food for the leaves and the leaves make food for the roots... just so no part tries to take over.. to the detrament of the whole.. little root room.. so the leaves grow in moderation..

Is it fragrant? Is it a hit with the bees and hummingbirds?

I haven't noticed a fragrance but it might have a short window for fragrance like some flowers do and I saw the hummingbirds visiting occasionally but very few insects.

I planted mine back outside today...it spent the winter in the cool room @ about 50*F..of all the things framed in there...it might win the award for being most accommodating to the strange conditions..it was so intertwined last fall..I got mostly the main stalk and a few feet of vines with it...today it had sprouted and leafed out nicely..so I put it right out...

Mine is leafing out too even though it got a hard prune last year. None of the cuttings took though.
