Hello all,
Been absent for a while. More like 3-4 months.
I changed jobs, didn't really like the new one and decided it was about time I started something on my own.
Have a small company (i am the only employee), rented part of a friend's shop (handmade stuff, paintings, etc) and I will be making mosaics, mirrors, garden decorations (probably made of beads and stained glass - but this later on, when I buy my wetsaw - any advise welcome).
AND... plant arrangements.
I am thinking hypertufa pots exclusively filled with Sempervivum and the like (hardy succulents/cacti).

So hopefully I will have more time to have a look at the site once in a while Smiling

MISSED U! :)

Some recent pics of my one and only raised bed (Got two more not so-raised ones, but only with Sempervivums, this one is a MIX)

Hurray! Calin it is so good to see you, I've missed you. And what a treat to see photos of your raised beds. Are all the plants in them winter hardy? I see some very interesting plants in those photos. Can you tell me the names of the plants in photos 3, 4 and 5? Are they winter hardy? Very interesting.

Your new semps are looking wonderful.

I am really excited to hear about your new business. Keep us updated on how it is doing, with photos of some of your creations. I have made this into your very own thread so we can follow your journey.
You can even plant into found objects. From tiny to large. Hurray!

Come on everyone, let's see what kind of ideas we can come up with for Calin. Hurray!

Calin,

Beautiful pictures! Congratulations on your new venture and much luck. The first year is the most difficult.

I retired early in order to follow my passions of breeding plants and playing music. Best move of my life. Best yet I live near Cynda, Lynn and Connie!

Anyone have ideas for Calin to use in his new business?

Here is a tiny ceramic container I found at a yard sale for 25 cents.

Helen Payne said that she was always on the lookout for containers for Semps and sedums and showed lots of clever ideas in her book. Mrs. Crane head gardener did lovely driftwood sculptures covered in semps. They were written up in a magazine 40 years ago and once upon a time I had a copy. Anyway I'm sure those would sell like hot cakes, ditto succulent wreaths.

Hey all!
Thanks for the kind wishes Smiling
Ideas... I never run out of .
The 3,4,5 pics are some kind of Sedum (I got it from someone and never knew what it was), then linaria purpurea and some Opuntia.
I would need to go home and check the seeds I got last year Smiling

Photo 4 looks like Petrosedum sediforme. I would love to find out what the red flowered plant is, and the one with the interesting pale purple flowers.
Would you be interesting in trading seeds?

Hello Lynn
The pale purple one is Linaria aeruginea (not purpurea like I mentioned). I see there's different colors, but mine came all pale purple.
Red one is Armeria pseudarmeria.
I got it in red and White.
White's been a bit slower than red but last time I was at the garden it was just starting to bloom.
I love trading seeds Smiling
Problem is I am lazy with collecting seeds. Especially really small ones. But I will try.

Thanks for the ID on that Sedum.

Thank you so much for the information Calin. Let me know if you are able to collect the seeds for the Linaria aeruginea and Armeria pseudarmeria. I would love to have those.

Also let me know what seeds you might like in return.

Very cool Calin!
Good luck, and have you narrowed your wetsaw shopping between any specific models?
I have little experience with wetsaws with craft-type things, but I use them very often to cut tile, etc.

Hello guys. THanks for the nice thoughts Smiling
Nope, haven't chosen yet any wetsaw, for now doing mosaics that don't require crazy cutting Smiling
I will soon show you what I have created so far.
