Well, good thing about the rain, but hail...yeah, not good! I had heard something about Houston getting some kind of bad storm, so probably the same system. Blow it in our direction. I'll even accept a little hail if it gets the rain here. This area is so dry that as soon as I finish watering the yard, the water starts evaporating immediately, even if it's early morning. The deer are back and very desperate. I've got a bucket and two water bowls outside the fence and just picked up another bag of deer feed. The birds are always thirsty and hungry lately. Two feeders going for them and lots of water containers sitting around inside the fence. La Nina is believed to be ending this month, but I see absolutely no sign of that yet!

We've had cells roaming through Harris County for the past three days. In our neighborhood, we got about 1/3 of an inch the first day, but only a sprinkle the second and nothing at all yesterday. We heard thunder in the distance, but the actual storms seemed to go around us. Ah, well... We'll take anything we can get at this point!

Just as the flower show was winding down Sunday, the sky turned dark and we had quite a storm for about 15 minutes...but no hail. Sorry about you plants Lee. I've been thru that before. The rain at the house was much less. I'm up early because I wanted to water before it got hot out there.
Linda...it's a $250. fine at the lake for feeding the deer. We used to always have food out for them. There's so many now that they've become a hazard to the older folks who live there permanently and drive the winding roads. When we trim the mulberry trees up there, I leave the branches on the ground overnight and the limbs are stripped clean in the morning.
Marilyn....I don't think we've ever gone thru Houston that it wasn't raining on the Interstate! Seems strange to hear that Houston's dry too.

I noticed the deer liked the Littleleaf Mulberry that I had put out with a cage around it made of wire fencing a few years back. They munched what little foliage they could reach for a while and then the wild hogs earlier this year tried to knock the cage over...but couldn't. Now I've got it inside the new fence, so it's safe. We don't have very many deer around here. But what are coming around are VERY desperate.

I would have missed it! In the middle of writing the Garden Club newsletter tonight...
our front yard is crunchy tonight. if we go two days without watering, it starts to curl up. We definitely need some good ole rain.

Thanks for the chupacabra info. I will be on the lookout!
That is quite a battle you have with the deer and hogs, Linda.
Sunday night while walking the dog, a wonderful wind started blowing...this was the sky for a short time.

Very nice sky pic! The weatherman was on TV just now and he said something like "I don't think we'll get a break, so just embrace the heat!" EMBRACE the HEAT??? Is he KIDDING??? I'll let HIM embrace it...personally there's nothing about heat I want to embrace! You'll notice I have no sense of humor about stuff like that.

Linda, you're funny! I'm going to remember this when it gets really cold and icy this winter....

Gorgeous photo, Anna. Reminds me of a fall sky for some reason. If I still painted, I'd copy it as a watercolor!

Yes, I know. I'll appreciate heat when it's freezing out. But until then, I really hate it! Another prediction...but I won't believe there's "some improvement" until we get normal amounts of rainfall right here. June does normally have some rain here.

I took a class on watercolors, have an easel, a decent drawing hand....and a lot of dust covering it all. I just don't have the patience to paint - it requires too much concentration and sitting still. Maybe this summer since it seems like it'll be too hot to do much else!

I love the latest outlook on La Nina.

"The latest summer outlook calls for warmer-than-norm temps and a 50/50 chance of wetter or drier conditions."

Can't get more vague than that! :/

umm... seems like there's a 100% chance it's going to be wetter or drier.

Farmer's Almanac forecast for southcentral areas. But then again, some of those areas haven't even seen drought at all. All a guessing game, I'm sure.

Well, if that's the case, let us know if anything changes, oh great oracle! ☺ And yet, I somehow still hope for rain...but sorry if that would cause you any pain, hope not.
