Hi I'm Kate and not surprisingly I'm in the UK - South Wales to be exact. I'm not new to ATP but I am new to Coleus. I found some reduced in a local DIY store (B&Q) and fell in love with the beautiful leaves startight away! I have Chocolate cherry and Watermelon varieties.
Is there anyone else from the UK (or in a similar growing zone) who can give me any tips on growing them in our climate?

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone on the forum.
Kate UK

sorry no one has ever responded to your posting. im not from the UK, im from Washington state, USA, but we love coleus here as well!! they always do well for us with only 4 hours of morning sunshine. we use them often as end pieces for our window boxes. they frame the boxes really well...!!

Jason nice window boxes.
Hi Kate!!!!! I grow lots of these every year and even take cuttings to hold over in the greenhouse. I don't put any coleus out until it stays 50 degrees at night. They are very tender plants. I'm also in Washington State and think we may have similar growing conditions. I mix mine in containers like Jason, just bait for slugs they love the tender new plants.
This may help. I know you cant order from here but lots of good information on growing.

Thanks for the replies all, I'm only just seeing them.

Your boxes look great Riverman123

Hi Julia - I didn't realize you were a coleus grower too!

I guess I learned the hard way that it'snot warm enough to plant them out just yet, we've had lovely weather for the last month, so |i put some seedlings out. They were doing great until the temperatures dipped back to normal this week. Oh well I know for next year! Maybe I'll start some more seeds for planting out in a month or so.
